Class of 2014 Decisions Thread

There is no separate University Honors Program application at Minnesota anymore.

Accepted today :D

32 ACT
3.7 (UW) GPA
Top 1%

Congratulations, ansar. I’ve been seeing your posts here and there, so now I’ll urge you to enroll at my alma mater. I was also on the phone recently to my cousin in Florida, so I’ve been thinking about your part of the world.

did anyone else get the letter asking if you wanted uminn to send your application to other minnesota colleges as well? I’m kind of nervous if no one else got it.

pacman - my son received that letter a few weeks ago and he was accepted to U of M last week. Don’t worry.

Thanks mom 2010 grad. I thought it could have been a foreshadowing of a rejection.

Thanks tokenadult

I probably will go to UMN. My brother is going there and he tells me he’s having a blast. Plus, I’ve visited twice in the past couple of months and the campus is really nice. Truth be told, I’d rather go to UMN than a school in FL.

pacman54 it has been stated before that UMN sends this to all their applications.

I haven’t heard back from the school but its one thats really high on my list. I know a student or two ( well my sibling does) who goes to UMN ( told me after she found out I have great interest in the school) and they also seem to be having a blast.

ACCEPTED today to the Institute of Technology!
Out of State–New York

SAT: 750 M 750 CR
GPA: around 94 UW, school doesn’t rank
National Merit Semifinalist

My first college acceptance! Woohoooo!

bearistotle: when your application was completed?

Niiiice! Fellow New Yorker and Institute of Technology!

seems only a few decisions come out? When will I receive the decision? It is complete more than 1 month.

It occurred to me to check the tracker again, and I see the status for my son’s application now says, " Your application is being very carefully considered. .," which is said to be the sign the file is actually being read, rather than just logged in. So far, EVERY admission letter I have heard about (mostly in this thread, one or two among my real-life friends) has come out earlier than any I heard about three years ago. The U of MN admission cycle mostly notifies people after the turn of the year. If you have had a complete admission file for a month, it is by no means late for you not to have heard any news yet.

Good luck to all of you still waiting for news.

Thanks for the heads up, tokenadult. My son’s page still has the wording that sounds very much in future tense (we will complete…). Now I know what to look for.

In today’s postal mail we saw a large envelope in the U of Minnesota school colors of maroon and gold with the word “Congratulations” on the outside, addressed to our son. I did take the liberty of opening the envelope while my son is still on campus to verify that he has been admitted to Institute of Technology class of 2014. Now I’ve put everything back in the envelope and I’ll let him read the detailed contents when he gets home.

Best wishes to all of you still waiting for news. My son has NOT heard this news from the university by email, so at least some applicants get the news first by postal mail.

Congratulations to your son, tokenadult, and to you!

^^
Yeah congrats, I wonder what were his stats like.

Status for my son has changed to “Your application is being very carefully considered”. Really hope this is good news, but just waiting.

I check my status everyday for the school and definately would not want to keep this up all the way into Feb. is there any pattern at all when releasing decisions? Ecstatic to hear back from the school, if its a acceptance ofcourse.

just got accepted into CBS.

Does anyone know if UMN CBS is good? I am hesitating between UMN CBS and Purdue prepharm. any suggestion?

congratulation to anyone who get in. And good luck to those who still waiting for a decision.
