@sarbaraj…
well written bro!

can someone tell me whether IB is so important of an IB from UWC is important for getting good colleges? what if u have an IB from Nepal…from Ullens…and can u take those things as a private candidate?

^^it was supposed to be OR after important…sorry for the error!

IB privately… hmm if you can get a good score on the IBD, sure it will help.

If you take only IB subject papers I think that would be almost equivalent in weightage to AP/A-levels

I was just answering Prasadian’s question…
Yeah we need to have an overall gud package…

@rockeroncc…and I was answering yours!

many colleges ask to send the SAT scores directly to them but later they do accept photocopies…what type of colleges should I choose when I take my SATs?
Suppose, I took a test and went worse but I had chosen 4 colleges and the scores were sent. I plan to take tests again and want to tell the colleges that those were not the scores I wanted to send to them, is it possible?

send the second scores … the colleges choose the best …

Will CR improve with constant practice, or is there an easy way out?

^^ practice practice and more practice…

I personally think that a good vocabulary is the next best thing besides critically thinking for success in CR. Does this make any sense?

^^that makes a lot of sense bro!
Usually people with reading habit achieve good marks in CR. If u start reading the vocab list in barrons just before taking the SATs(say some 3 weeks ago), that might not help. But if you have a good command over english, you read a lot of articles, novels and whatever you find written in english…that obviously helps a lot. After all its your reading habit that gets you a good score in CR rather than the vocab list in those test preparation books.

@pinkfloyd4life

learning vocab for SAT (sentence completion) is almost illogical. Too much of an effort for too little gain. You will need to learn some for the paragraphs, but they are very few in number.

CR —> Read NYTimes, and practice a lot, like 3333 says (use only the official past papers for practice)

and contrary to the popular belief, NO it does not help that much if you read a lot. It rather matters how critically can you analyze the given passages (they are fairly simple, once you are attuned to them).
