Class of 2015 from Nepal

It’s nice to see you guys start too early. good luck y’all

:D tks there^

@metallica999
majors r something u should be wary of urself, theres many search engines ->find colz ->shortlist them which suits u ->get in depth look into them->look at their courses n fees->finalize ur list…blah blah
certainly fees is the most imp factor with us nepalese…u couldnt wish to enroll into even a $10,000 (or even costlier) colz n think of living a frivolous life, theres a lot to the money here…so look for scholarships big time!!
u must also look into urself…u r ur best judge…decide on which colz would fit u on basis of ur academics, SAT/ACT, SAT2s, ECAs, interests, honors n accolades,etc
lastly im also not familiar wih the open admission policy, perhaps other guys might help, anyone?
@3333
i donno man…many colz might want to view ur past SATs

guys dont wait for aug 1 for common apps to come out…this might be a big mistake, u wouldnt wanna do the supps n prepare for tests!!!

@prasaidian: so what should b done bsids waitin till aug1?

@Expeliarmus
this is what im doing
1.my fren, work on ur personal statement …its very very imp, the colz is indirectly asking u ‘why should we admit u?’ , dont underestimate the necesity of a wonderful essay…
2.i assume u n many of us havent given any tests yet …so always try practice sets, believe me it’ll help alot!!!
3.trim ur colz list, its very imp to decide to on where u apply , atleast decide on where ur applying early…as i hv already said many colz have declared the topics of their supps, this is a grt time to work on them coz this is time when we r being a carefree person n have loads of time…come aug we r gonna be really bg !!!
i think this should keep us occupied :D

where do you find the topics for the supplements?

@ moneyp

look into the admissions section of specific colleges’ websites

CommonApp not opened yet?? It opens in the first of August, I guess.
Anyways, I still don’t know what to choose as a major- Engineering (Electrical and Communication) or Physics.

thanks for ur comments prasadian and iv been studying SAT now.and im planning to give sat in this oct and only after tht m planning to do toefl.is it ok to do toefl later?will it b late for the new intake for october 015?and when will b d deadline for ED for oct intake 2015?will d colleges whose fees structure is abt $30000 waive me abt $25000?

@metallica999:
toefl…u can take it anytime…i am plannin for this september…
n dude colleges even with fees structure above $50k waive more than 90% of their fees if u have a good essay n decent SAT score…

If you are done with the subject tests then you can do that. However, if u have registered Subject tests for November, then it will be better that you give the TOEFL sometimes around August. After all it doesn’t require a great deal of effort to get some 100+ in the TOEFL, just some practice test would do it. Anyways best of luck mate !

they are my frens too. u must be talking abt Nimesh Ghimire and Shrish Pokhrel. right??

pointer for metallica999
TOEFL is easy, get it over with first. SAT you can do it after TOEFL. That’s what I’ve heard. I’m gonna do the same, man.

Yea, and Puspa Kamal is right. Once you get used to all the SAT words and stuff, TOEFL will be a piece o’ cake. I did quite well in my practice test without even preparing for it.

I still have a question
Engineering or Physics??

well my friend…i would say…Physics…because

Liberal arts colleges rarely have engineering programs. yeah most of them do have 3_2 programs, which means a 3 year in the LAC and then the remaining 2 years in one of the national universities. But that aint easy as it seems, because even if u have scholarships for 3 years at the LACs…it is not sure that u will get the same amount of scholarship for the remaining two years…at the University

A physics major can peruse a degree in engineering if he wants. He can apply to grad schools for engineering programs. In fact most of the Nepalese students, who take physics during their undergraduate years, end up with some engineering programs during their graduate studies. Even physicists have good job placements in the States.So it wouldn’t be a problem even if u choose yo continue your studies in physics later during your graduate years.

I am interested in photography. could anyone tell me which colleges are best for it.

okzzz i searched for few colleges till now and iv seen that they give high preference in ECA and social works. so im planning to join ROTRACT club(sister organization of ROTARY club) and i am going volunteer in some of its programs.so does its recommentation and volunteer certificate assist me.is is worth too much valuable.

and on the other hand its about ED.iv read the posts of the past and found out that we cant apply ED in more than one college right?>???>?>??>>
so we are not accepted in ED in first colg can we apply for ED in other colleges after that…upto how many times we can give ED in colleges before its too late??

and in what type of college should we apply for ED…in expensive colleges or in reputed colleges or in aid giving colleges?? what type of college should we choose and of what sort of tution fees expecting how much aid…do post for me

^^ great… which rotract club are you planning to join??.. well they say its helps but i didn’t use any recos so i can’t say much about it… but its worth the experience…
