Class of 2015 from Nepal

@rockeroncc and confidential2015
I was talking abt the safeties for engineering.for sure getting to study at MIT or even drexel with aid will be pretty fun. But imagine the number of applications from Nepal and how many of them get admission in the universities each year ?? I am sure the average won’t be even one student per year. I am sure you have seen the glorious http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/international-students/681620-class-2014-nepal.html</a> and the acceptances in it but what we fail to realize is the number of well-qualified students that get either rejected or get insufficent aid from all the colleges they apply. So just wanted to make sure everyone has a back-up plan
@adhikari
You can apply for sure apply for ED1. Just make sure all of your other material are postmarked by the deadline and select your ED college as your reciptent for SAT scores.

@confidential2015
Your last post about that applying thing really helped. Thanks.
And what!!! I am hearing about some sort of consultancy thing in CC???
Man if you are those consultant seekers then wats the use of CC. Moreover as Confidential2015 said, they really have some sort of pathetic univs in their relation. So its not worth a try but it might your last option. LOL

Myan you are talking about safeties then just consider your case if you take my suggestion. Coz safety means different to diffn ppl. So safety are many but if you are thinking of not paying even a penny then search, plenty of state universities are there only thing they need is a student with good academics. So go on there are much much more state uni then we know that gives a full ride.

Oh yes I forgot to ask.
Anyone has got the supplement topics for any college.
Please PM me. It will be a great help.

Hey, I’m thinking of doing a major in Physics and Math in an LAC and then graduate in Engineering. What are the job opportunities for people with major in Physics?

reply to #537
Bucknell won’t give aid to internationals…
Lehigh won’t as well…
I don’t go with Gatech and Copper Union…
Drexel is everyone’s fav but still it don’t give that much ( at least pay 15-18k)
No virginia tech ( have to have lots of money)…
I have come across this…so i guess you don’t wanna include these unless you wanna pay around 20k a year.

One suggestion guys…
Apply to black universities with engineering programs…
you don’t need to have that much good academics and scores but u still may get a full ride on the ground of the diversity…you see.
So anybody loves black then you can go for it. ;)

help me guys!!!
ACT = SAT Reasoning Test
OR
ACT = SAT Subject Test
OR
ACT = Both SATs?

skox818, what’s a “Black” University?

hey guys, this is Xan El, cool – cool, internationally going you guys, yeah, let us know about the black university?
and Expeliarmus , i guess ACT is not equal to SAT, its a totally different test

i just went through the site of Cornell and they say that the date of submission is nov1, but SATII is on nov??? need sm help again.

@future engineers:

well if you’re so much into earning while studying… the best option is co-ops… so apply to some state unis {with good merit-aid policy for even internationals… like. Mississippi State University; SUNY-Buffalo; etc}… and yes be early… and yes include them directly as online SAT recipients… and YES YOU HAVE YO PAY THE APPLICATION FEES IT CANNOT BE WAIVED… (at least for the unis I mentioned, i can’t say about others)… you might also wanna check out some professionally focused private unis like Drexel (DUH! :p)…

but but but… the main problem here is financial!! if you want a free ride in state unis… you have to make sure you seek out every scholarship possible… and by that i mean the not-so-famous departmental scholarships as well… and yes most of the deadlines are in early October itself… and for private universities… learn how to be a GOOD BARGAINER… ;)… it can at-least get you up to a full tuition…

if you really need a full-ride and are not ready to take the financial risk involved in joining a state-university… then head off to an LAC with pre-engineering or 3-2 programs -> graduate as a physics major with enough experience in maths & computer science… then opt for engineering in graduate school…

the best LACs will be the ones with 4-2 programs (4yrs LAC bachelors and 2yrs university masters in engineering) like Colgate, Wellesley, etc… they can give you the required academic preparation for the transition from science to engineering without the year-loss problem… but remember getting in can be a challenge… so always keep your options open…

Thanks, 3333!

@3333 Can I summarize you post as ?

Get into a LAC and do bargain, take physics major and get into engineering for grad.

i mean colleges equivalents ACT as SAT1 or SAT2 or both!!!
plz help me!!!

@Expeliarmus They don’t equivalet as ACT = SAT I and SAT II
If you need is an equation, just consider ACT = SAT I and 1/4 of SAT II How is that ? But most college use this equation. ACT = SAT I

@ 3333
What about the financial aid after the 3 years in LAC?We all have been hearing that after 3 years we find it difficult(almost nil chances) to get good aid(or even simply aid).None of us here can afford the fees that’s for sure.:frowning:
Though its the same old question every time.Any new answers.

@Expeliarmus
For most of the colleges its SAT1=ACT but for few of them ACT= SAT1 and SAT2 both.You need to research on the university.

@BidurNeeti: I mentioned the going to a good state uni part as well…

@RoCkErOnCc: Yeah the aid for 3/2 is tight… but i have heard of a few internationals getting a full-ride… so i think it really depends upon your college performance… you know you got to be the worthy investment!!! ;)… but i wasn’t talking about doing a 3/2… i was talking about heading off for a masters in engineering by completing a 4ys bachelors in science… then you’re on the same boat as most other applicant and not an expensive transfer an you don’t even need to lose a year!! after all its your grad school that really matters…

but come on… if you really really really want to do engineering then head off to a good state uni… there is no point in losing time with a BA when you can have a BE… you just have to make sure that the your financial situation doesn’t lag you behind!!

but if you’re still unsure about weather you want to become an astronaut or an engineer then take some time!!! don’t go picking on engineering just because you think its going to get you an easy job…

@3333 Is engineering only available in state university or what ?
