Class of 2015 from Nepal

thanx everyone for the help on ED… and how important is SATII? can anyone help =)

the problem was… the hacker changed my password before i got the chance … and i couldn’t reset it because he changed my alternate email add too i guess and simply couldn’t remember the questions.

it’s all okay now, i’ve got new accoutns

SAT 2 is not that important if you’re not applying to top notch colleges. But it is a requirement if you are aiming for colleges like Williams, Amherst and all, and also the Uni’s like duke, Ivys and all that.

@confidential15: EDs are always binding. What you’re looking for is EA/SCEA.

@ccprofile
hey thanks!
i would like to know those ones which have a non binding thing…except “Regular decisions…”

yeah from my side too…please clarify a bit more about SCEA…

EA refers to Early Action. Under EA program, you apply early and the college also notifies you of their admissions decision early. You can EA to as many colleges as you want to(unless you’re applying SCEA somewhere). In addition to that you may also apply ED to some other college. The main difference between EA and ED is that EA is non-binding.

SCEA(Single Choice Early Action)- So far Stanford and Yale are the only two colleges to my knowledge that offer SCEA. Once you apply SCEA you cannot apply EA or ED to any other college until you’ve actually heard from them. SCEA is non-binding and if accepted the colleges do give ample time for you to decide whether or not you want to attend that university.

@ccprofile
you said that SCEA is non-binding, yet you cannot apply for EA and ED… is it like after the acceptance you cannot go to ohter college or what??
Thanx for your help hai… it is really helping all the 2015ers…

^In SCEA, if you get accepted you can still wait for RD decisions and eventually once you’ve heard from all colleges in April you can turn down your SCEA offer and decide to go to one of the RD colleges. So in that sense, SCEA is non-binding. It’s just that if you apply SCEA, you cannot apply EA or ED I.
But really if you get in SCEA(which as far as I know only Stanford and Yale provide), you might not even want to hear from any other college. ;)

sounds kool…lets hope for the good…wish I will be an accepted SCEAr … once again thak you

How will we know that a college gives us aid or not???

^What do you mean? Do you want know whether or not they give FA/Merit-based aid or do you wish to to find out whether or not they award aid in those early acceptance rounds?

@ccprofile

Actually there are so many colleges which say that they don’t offer any kind of assistance for international students either it be FA,merit based scholarship or anything else…but they do have some kinds of aid for internationals…so i think the previous post was regarding the same topic…how to know whether a college awards fin aid for international even though their website says they don’t do so…??? simply, where to find the hidden money for internationals in each and every college?

@ confidential2015
Thanks for clarifying my question…

I meant the same question.

hey RoCkErOnCc can u pm abt which colz are from? plz

@rockeroncc & confidential: The best way of finding out for sure is by e-mailing the individual colleges’ FA department(It takes time, I know. But this is the most reliable way). However, if the site explicitly states that they don’t give aid then they most probably don’t.

@ ccprofile
dai can u list some of the good engineering col/univ with good aid?
Need help…

@ccprofile
and yes as rockeroncc asked… we hear acceptances from such colleges that states no fin aid for international in their site??? what about that?? many are accepted even in those.
