Class of 2015 from Nepal

@chandal

talk about generalizing.

sorry i just had to put my view here about the admission process. it’s not technically random, admin just sees something in the package that we fail to. it’s not only the academics and the ECAs that matter, it’s the qualities the person possesses and the diversity he or she can bring to the college. agreed with sarbaraj101, with the egs of random processes given above, the process has been generalized when there are many more counter examples which can show otherwise

@confidential2015:

when in the world did I say that State Uni are bad…or ur’e some kind of psychic who comes to know everythin b4 sayin.I 2 know much abt American U , may b not more than U , but i’ve ample ideas abt A U…

The guy about whom I was talkin had gone to a very remote place in an U ( that didnt even fall in rankings) with very low aid although he had gr8 SAT I , TOEFL,SAT II, % and ECAs scores .The U was not the 1 that he deserved. Yes, state U are government U having gr8 resources and endowments from gov but that doesnt mean all are gr8.If so , then UC: Berkeley (ranking #3 i guess) would be sharing its position with Brigham Young U …I think u did a lot of research but forgot to see U resources & students retention rate…c those as well…

“Next time u speak smth in here, plz try to understand (dun b superficial), my request with u”

And yes, dun b so rude…u said u do some discussion and help here(which is/may b true) but u’re startin somekinda debate.We’re here to help each other so let the suggestions sound like suggestions rather than like some sarcasm or critical comments…
Abt goin to nursery of collg admission process, i dun think i nid to.
U guyz are here 4 helpin (if u’ve chilled down)

@#1440
(note:I’m neutral)…I interpret that as a kind of response unconsciously aimed at provoking some futile debates…“nursery”>>I don’t believe a CCer uses such an “insignificant” word at this stage…everyone’s got some resilience to act with…let’s make use of that…Moreover, as we’re trying to be “philosophers” through Critical Reading (of course, it’s making us critically analytical), the tones need to be considered. @confidential2015 no offense bro…back to regular discussions…

@confidential2015 & durlav1n1 –>> What’s this argument about? CC is not a place for this.

and besides, I think you guys should know by now that your high school %, SAT scores, etc arent much if you dont have a good essay. Your essay does everything for you, imho.

and @durlav1n1
As for Lehigh, it’s really good for engineering (don’t let anyone catch me saying that here) and will probably give you FA too. have you taken the SAT before? I didnt know that.

^
But my GC said Lehigh is not a good choice if u are planning to do engineering…

guys i need suggestions regarding 3-2 engineering…

@all…ok ok…chilled down…i was never trying to ‘hurt’ anyone…

@sixstringsrocker …long time no see…

@adhikari lehigh is one of the finest schools with engineering that award high amount financial aid to internationals(need based+tries to meet the need)

1440

(Me too neutral)I guess it was a bit more rude.All of us here do have some idea about the us admission process so nursery won’t be the word to use…

@Josephite
Most of the LACs have that program.You study first 3 yrs in the LAC and last 2 in the Engineering University.And after 5yrs two degree,B in Arts and B in eng.

@joshephite…new people always ask things which were discussed so many times earlier…i humbly request with you to check earlier pages…we have discussed more than enough about 3-2 engineering…plz do check the thread from the beginning before you ask questions…

guys we don’t need ‘Mid-Year Report’ and ‘Final Report’, right?

@expeliarmus:
m too confused with the FR, MR and the SSR…
I’ve already graduated from high school, so do I need MR??

My school’s coordinator says to cooperate but (poor guy )he doesnt much know abt these thngs…how shud they b filled??
And what abt the commonapp ONLINE SCHOOL FORMS???
I was happy that the online forms were goin to save the postal charges but its like a headache??
Do we nid class 9 reports as well??
Any ideas welcomed…

@sixstringrocker: tyo SAT ko scores ta practice test ko average scores ho…Real test is on OCt 9…
thanx for ur suggestions(once again)…

@ rockeroncc
I think Trinity 2 has same thing like u said, 3 yrs in Trinity and 1 or 2 yrs (m confused) in RPI…
Its like : Ek teer, do sikaar…
a gud option…

I heard this year there are more than 50 applicants from Nepal itself for ED in Trinity and Lafayette C…
a very tough n excitin competition…m anxious for the ED notifications…

allright lets not rage up our thread.hahaha.
Yeah, hope to see many on Oct-9th on St.Xavier’s.
We might not recognize one other but we will definitely be around each other.
Lets call up with CC names.
Heard its easy to cheat in STX…is this true? We wont have time to cheat i guess.
And yeah what might be some good State Unis and some liberal arts. Specially liberal arts that focus on Business or Accounting…are there any? And i heard that in Unis if you tick you major as business or medicine…they wont give you much aid…Please correct me on this one. I think this is only applicable to Grad School. In Undergrad i guess what we study does not matter much.

Too many questions at once, but take your time people.

@confidential 2015…sorry bro…just wanted to know how wise would it be take up a 3-2 course dats it…

@durlav1n1…yeah, you need to send everything…9,10,11,12…and if your GC does not know how to do it…it will really be a problem. Its better to do the paper thing, attach a fee wavier along with it and send it by mail…don’t try the online version if ur GC is confused! Its better to pay 800rs for your postal charge than to make mistakes!

I don’t think there are 50 candidates but certainly there are many candidates…and the reason behind it is last year’s acceptance at Trinity-5. And about Lafayette, I came to know that there is someone from Nepal in the admission committee.A BNKS alumnus told me that he had some friends working at Lafa, Trinity…
@sixstringsrocker–is it true dude?

^^nah…no matter to say sorry…I was just trying to tell you to take a look at previous pages…we had a lot of discussion about 3-2…did u check? if not…check once…and then ask what is missing…we are ready to answer your question…

@ confidential2015:
thanx dude…i think i’ll go with the paper…but GC nids to consider other students as welll…i hope all students wud come to a general agreement…the GC shud submit the common app school forms either 4 all students or 4 none…

Can u give som ideas about Midyear report & Final Report??Ma sanga ta last year ko marksheet pani chhaina + mid term of 12 ta khattamai bhako thiyo…and wat abt FR???

^^…just searching the previous posts regarding 3-2 bro…first ill go thru it and post my queries if any…

@durlav1n1…this is a serious issue…if u wait for others or the GC waits for others, there might arise several other problems…its about doing your task correctly…if you say that you want to send paper app, you GC would no way say NO.
And what do you mean by…the GC shud submit the common app school forms either 4 all students or 4 none…??? GC needs to submit the form for all…its a clear thing.
About midyear, final…everything needs to be filled according to my GC. Since I don’t have interest in that thing coz my GC does everything…I might not be able to tell you completely about the forms…but one thing is for sure…you need to fill up everything(you means your GC) you first have 9 then 10 and then for 11 and 12 your GC will fill up the marks you have got…
you mentioned about an exam that went bad…it won’t matter if you recovered…but if kept on going down…it might not be that good…
you do not require mark sheet at this moment. you just need a transcript that complies with the commonapp. Why do u worry abt mark sheet? every college has records of its students…they will put the marks you achieved from the database(i think your college has a student record)…so mark sheet doesn’t matter…get a transcript…
