@anderr123 i have to admit - i am the poster child of nepotism! my dad works for NBC, and has been in broadcast journalism for 30 yrs. he let me be a runner once to try and get this dream out of my head…but it stuck with me! i’m lucky to have the opportunity to climb the ladder. 2000 DANG!

Talk about stats!!!

@Saona63
What engineering major is your son into? I’m in mechanical/aerospace dual major and I can certainly give some tips to if this is the route he’d be going.

6 more days people. If you haven’t applied yet, find a time machine.

Wow, what a great group of applicants! :)

@parryc96 Don’t worry about being Asian, UF doesn’t take it into account (either way). And with the great pool of Hispanic applicants in the state, they don’t take that much into account either.

However, in the holistic admission process, they do take into account First Generation.

While we’re at it, UF also doesn’t take into account AP test scores (but they do take into account that you took the class, as it helps your weighted GPA and class “rigor”), IB/AICE test scores (treated the same as AP classes) and SAT II test scores.

Good Luck All!

Weakness: I got “D” in AP Chem, and withdrew from the class after first semester of Junior Year. The Teacher was Horrible! Some Ph.D. not ment to teach high school students, and of no help at all. I swear she was out to get me, accused me of cheating on every test even though I was doing poorly in her class. She hated that I missed 2 classes for State finals too.

But regardless of the “D” received, I still had a good junior year, and worked hard to keep my GPA and Class Rank up.

Honestly I’m Super Nervous :/

@svengali95 i have the same experience with AP chem! my teacher is straight from lebanon, has her Ph D from MIT…yet 90% of my class was failing the first term junior year, and she’s STILL having issues teaching. i think she’ll be gone next year - she was new last year. here i am in honors physics, with a 99, being taught by a teacher with a Ph D in nuclear physics!! sometimes, the teacher and student cannot form a mental connection. it happens!

Oh wow, these amazing stats are making me pretty nervous! I completed my application to UF in early September and at the time I thought I would be fine. Now, I’m not so sure. I got into U of Miami but it would be nice to have UF as an option as well since it’s 1 1/2 hours away from me rather than Miami which is 5 hours away. I’m definitely going to be on edge for the rest of the week :l. Good luck everyone!
