While my son hasn't heard anything yet, we did note on twitter that the as of yesterday some applicants were receiving their acceptance letters from SMU.

Time to watch those mailboxes!

Good luck everybody!!!

Yay! Good luck everyone!!

There doesn’t appear to be anything on the SMU admissions twitter feed. Is it just some random tweets? Could it be for something other than the undergraduate program?

@RMKA2013 Just random stuff like this: https://twitter.com/courtneykobos/status/540701840632193025/photo/1

Looks like a real acceptance but I am noticing the mustang on the tshirt with the word Lady…maybe an accepted ATHLETE?

@txmomto3 you may be correct. Perhaps the athletic acceptances come out first. Not really sure. The other SMU acceptance tweets seem to be for a different university (Saint Mary University.)

It is very possible I got head faked!

The Admissions staff are still in Committee making final admission decisions on Undergraduate first-year applications. They still hope to mail decision letters in mid-December, but it would be no later than December 31st.

Thanks for the update Lilly119. Please keep us posted.

Thanks for the update as well. I know there is a huge amount of work that goes in to these decisions and tracking the incredible volume of material, not to mention wanting to give every candidate the chance to put their best foot forward. That is undoubtably the most important thing. However, as we move to the end of December, some of the applicants may have regular decision submission deadlines for other schools, some as early as January 1st. From an applicant’s perspective, one of the reasons to apply early admission or early decision is to be able to make a college decision quickly to avoid the regular decision cycle. And an application takes an investment of time to do do well, so if decisions aren’t received until near or after 12/31, it starts to defeat the purpose of an EA application to begin with.

RMKA2013: I can’t believe you wrote that. It clearly states on their website that the notification deadline for early action/early decision is December 31! By mailing out mid-December, they are actually notifying us early. The dates have been in place for how long now…like a year…

Didn’t mean my comment to be a criticism but rather an observation. I went back a few years in the threads and it appears letters started getting received between December 13th and 17th in the last few years.

.

received ours Dec 10th, 2013. It all matters how many they are dealing with each year!

No acceptances for the Fall 2015 cycle have been mailed yet. The photo is of a student who applied for Spring 2015 (as she notes at the bottom of her tweet).

@perunalove Good catch. Again… sorry for the had fake, guys!

No apologies necessary! Just didn’t want anyone to think they were being left out!

We live in Dallas and nothing in mail today. Just checking to see if anyone else got any notification?
