Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

Does anyone know how long after the mail is sent out (presumably Friday) that the portal decision becomes available?

I thought they didn’t post the decisions on the portal.

@FriendlyNerd888‌ I’ve heard that the portal changes 3-4 days after the decisions are mailed out, but I’m not sure

@wishful2015‌- Decisions are mailed but approximately 3-4 days later the portal will have an F and a P tab which is your indication that you have been accepted.

@moorzy96‌ yeah I totally get you. I’m not sure if I mentioned it but I also played club soccer. And are you sure? I wasn’t aware that geographical and racial/ethnic factors were that large?

My D applied EA and now that the time is drawing near, is super nervous about the decision. Best of luck everyone!!

Good luck to your daughter! Mine is also very nervous. Hopefully we will get the letters on Saturday so they have the weekend to process the result.

@blueeyes1997‌ Fairfield might be worth looking into!

Does anyone have any idea what the acceptance rate for early action was last year?? I can’t believe how close we are to finding out our decisions… It’s so nerve wracking!

I think I read 43% somewhere, but applicant pool is more competitive. I think.

Do you think anyone will hear on Saturday? I know they send out letters on Friday. Is there a chance that some of the northeast will hear (NY, CT, or MA etc)? Also do you if they tell you whether you received scholarships with the letter?

what do you mean by “tabs”?

I’m assuming part of the reason that they are sending them Friday is because they want kids to get them on Saturday and the bulk of the applicants are from MA and NY area. MA students will most likely get them the next day. Although will all of the holiday mail, maybe it will be Monday. But Saturday is a good possibility I would say from NJ on up. Might depend on how early they go out on Friday.

Yes, I have heard that REA acceptance rate is between 40-50% as well. But I also heard that the RD pool of applicants was stronger because those kids who applied REA and ED elsewhere but weren’t accepted add BC to their RD list Not sure though…

I live in Northen PA, 2 hrs from NYC. Will I have to wait till Tuesday? Cause I think I might die if I have to wait that long

you probably wont have to. I live in NJ and everyone is saying that NJ will probably receive it Saturday. My guess is you would too and if not then Monday at the latest.

Keeping my fingers crossed for an acceptance but given how this admission season has been going for me this far, I’m not entirely sure of my chances.

Good luck everyone.

@Mfrias Ethnicity/residence definitely are not that much of a factor, but from what I understand, a college in the northeast is more likely to accept a non white student from out west or down south rather than a local white. My friend told me he spoke with a Middlebury admissions director who humorously put it, “If you are from Nebraska, your are getting in”

Regardless of state, if the ethnicity is Hispanic (i.e., URM), it can be a big factor at nearly every college.

When do we here for EA
