Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

^All EA decisions are sent through phsyical mail by Friday; depending on your proximity from Boston, you will receive your letter at a different time. The official BC Admissions accounts both on here and Twitter (probably run by the same person) have confirmed this.

OK, portal stalkers, my daughter’s portal is now missing the E tab and only has 3: A,C,D

But she still has the Email on the list which is what I thought the E took you too so not sure what it means. I am a little nervous that we are now missing a tab. Anyone else get anything like this?

Mine changed the same way also

Certified portal stalker here. What we have here is what we in the business call “the mystery of the missing E”. Every night after midnight the “Email services” option in the portal deactivates, so the “E” in the little alphabet quick link at the top disappears. No one knows why it does but it happens every night and means absolutely nothing.

OK, thanks. I now remember someone saying that! False alarm. Have a great night fellow portal stalkers.

Someone asked about REA acceptance vs RD. I pulled these stats off US News & World Report:

Institution Name : Boston College
Early Action Acceptance Rate 36.3%
Early Action # of Applicants 6697
Overall Acceptance Rate: 26.2

Therefore the RD acceptance rate must be quite a bit lower than 26.2% in order for the combined overall acceptance rate to be 26.2%.

Up until last year my daughter’s high school had pretty good luck with BC, a handful of kids would get in each year (upwards of 5 or more) but last year they only took 1 and he was an EA candidate. And he ended up not even going. All the deferrals got wait listed and then rejected. It’s just getting harder every year! Good luck to you all if you are in the running for BC you must have an amazing application and will get in to a fabulous school, I am sure!

Do URM’s only have an advantage if they are low income? I was told this by my counselor.

your counselor is wrong (or just being politically correct to avoid a discussion of affirmative action).

I think URM’s have the most advantage if they are low income and first generation. However, there are many that stil seem to get some kind of a bump with that status, even if they live in good neighborhoods and their parents went to college. It’s just the way it is!

Sources in the admission office tell me they sending them out on Friday which is a week later than normal because they received such an extreme uptick in applications it took longer to process than they were expecting. Second, the mail truck usually goes out late in the afternoon so everyone not in the Greater Boston area should not expect their letters until at least Monday most likely later due to the holiday rush. I was in the exact same position as many of you last year and my advice is to stay away from the portal until at least Tuesday and if you get a tab to pay for your enrollment deposit, there is 99% chance you got accepted.

I live in Mass, an hour south of BC. Does anybody have an estimation of when my letter would come? I can’t decide if it would be Saturday or Monday.

@Eagle1095‌ There was an extreme uptick in applications? You know this how?

sigh…how much do you guys think BC cares about ACT? i only got a 30 and i feel so worried…however id id send in my 770 math II score…but is that 30 too low for CSOM

Honestly so scared of hearing back. I’m really hoping to get the decision Saturday…I’m in NJ but if they send them at a reasonable time then maybe?

can other things make up for test scores? my extra curriculars, leadership and course rigor are all very strong but my testing has never been good, can those things make up for it?

@bchopeful03‌ i hope so!! they are a very hollistic school from what i’ve heard

Got deferred from villanova business school. I’m literally terrified of my decision to come now

Yea I’m kinda worried as well. I’m in NYC and my mail normally comes in the later afternoon so hopefully I get something this Saturday.
