Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

Sources directly in the admissions office.

Is this the thread where everyone will post their EA decisions once they come out?

I have a 2040 SAT, which is right in the middle of BC’s average… so I need a lot of luck.

@Eagle1095‌ so is there any indication that they accepted more students due to this “uptick” ?

@Eagle1095‌ Well if that’s true, it didn’t seem to slow the process down, as you said. Letters were mailed around the same time last year…

My guidance counselor received an email from the BC Admissions this morning about early applications… They received 9,000 Early Action applications (as opposed to 5,500 last year), accepted 2,700, deferred 4,000, and denied 3,000 (all approx.). Now I’m so nervous!

I’m even more nervous now after hearing how many more applications there were this year  as soon as someone receives their letter, please post your decision and where/what state you live. Good luck everyone, I’m praying for all of us!!

That is incorrect they mailed the letters a week earlier last year, people were receiving letters at approximately this time.

I’ve honestly just lost all hope… After seeing that 10,000 people applied and only 2,700 got in I know that my goal to go to my dream school is now over :frowning: good luck to the rest of you

I’m about an hour from Boston so I’m hoping I’ll receive my letter by Saturday! Good luck everyone!

just a general question…open to eveyrone…do you guys think BC cares a lot more about the essays than like say GPA/class rank? what do you think is th emost important factor in being admitted to BC , besides being catholic ( lol jk) but really am i  ?

Um, I think the essays are definitely really important and can make up for a low score/gpa

@brwil15 Oh, WOW. That makes me nervous. Now definitely expecting a deferral :(

Same @anniemalfarm‌ , same

Same… :(

I’m not sure why everyone is freaking out. If @briwil15‌ 's stats are right, the acceptance rate is right at 30%, which is close to what it was last year.

@crhomberg21‌ Their acceptance rate was 33% for both rounds last year. It’s typically between 40-50% for early action.

the EA acceptance rate is for sure much lower than 40-50% for early action

I think BC cares more about grades and rigor than they do about scores. However, a really low score might take you out of the running. But I don’t think a mediocre one will if you have other things going for you.

Well damn lol!! I guess I should be expecting a deferral/rejection. Unless majority of the people who applied were under qualified, I don’t see how I can beat those numbers.
