Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

i have a 1340/2080 sat and pretty good ec’s but thats just not good enough for CSOM

oh and also 7 ap classes- top track in every class except math (second to top track) and one history ap class i didn’t get into because of my freshmen year grades which sucked

newport:

search for threads by scottj, a former parent of two BC students. Scott has some excellent advice on how to think about the essays.

BC is awesome. Good luck.

How are my chances of getting into the CSOM?
I have a 4.39 weighted and 3.99 unweighted GPA, am ranked 10/360 in my class, have a 2050/1380 on the SAT with a 720 on Critical Reading, 660 in math, and 670 in writing with an 11 on the essay.

ugh better than mine… lol good luck @andrew7421

I have similar stats: top 10%, 4.32 GPA and 2050 (CR 630, M720 and W 700) but am applying regular decision. I think that being in top 10% is really important so you have that covered, CSOM is also more competitive. You have good leadership in your ECs and great academic honors. I have a sports-oriented background and am Varsity Captain and four year varsity player (all-conference in toughest conference in state) but feel that many kids applying to BC look like me on paper which has me worried. Maybe you will look more unique. Good luck!

@chloesophia‌ I have exactly the same stats as you! Praying I get in [-O<

Sorry I was replying to @Andrew7421‌

to anyone who has been accepted—did your portal change at all? i know they aren’t releasing decisions on the portal, but i was just curious

Would being a band nerd help? I know BC has a pretty good marching band…

All this talk about the increased size of the ea applicant pool has me nervous now. Do you guys think I have a good chance?
Sat: 2090/1340
Applied to CAS for physics
Tough course load
Have performed collegiate research in nanotechnology
Letters of Rec: phenomenal
Essays: very good- phenomenal
Class rank: top 7% of 260 students

matusa96 - I think your stats and demonstrated interest in science through your research will really show an academic passion which will make you stand out. I think you have a great chance. Is your math SAT super high? That would help too. Good luck!

My son was accepted to Villanova, Northestern, UMich. I feel sort of greedy hoping BC will accept him too. His results are solid but not spectacular at this level. He goes to BXSciance and competes with some amazing kids. He took ACT once and scored 32, he did not bother with SAT2s. I wish all you kids the best. BC is a lovely school, I would be proud to send my son there.

Hey all, how is everyone holding up? I am beyond nervous right now. Praying for the letter to come tomorrow…

I live in Miami, what do ya’ll think the chances of getting it tomorrow are?

Accepted yesterday into the Carroll School of Management.

4.02 Weighted
2200 SAT (Superscored)
33 on the ACT
Took the hardest classes offered at my school
Pretty good ECs/Recs/Essays (nothing special)

Good luck to everyone who hasn’t heard yet!

I’m international but I study in high school here. My friend is the same as me

@23mhead‌ how does your portal now look like ?

@matusa96‌ we are twins, i got a 1340/2090 on my SATs too!

@23mhead‌ what major did you put down for CSOM and are you a male or female? Also, please let us know if you noticed any portal changes. Thanks!
