Letter finally arrived in CO. Accepted to CAS Honors & assigned 4 years of housing. Woohoo! Certainly takes the sting out of my Georgetown deferral.

As an aside, I understand what an honors program is, but why does a school of BC’s caliber have one? What does that mean for students in that program? Also, why do only some people get 4 yrs. of housing and why is that a big deal?

Just got my letter in California for CAS!! (got the portal change two nights ago)
Decision: Accepted
ACT: 30
Weighted GPA: 4.13
APs: 8 by the end of this year
Extra currics: unique but not very many
Common app essay: took a risk but I guess it paid off!
Supplement: very passionate
Letters: 3 not including counselor (probably good)

All honors students get 4 years of housing, but you don’t have to be in the honors classes to keep the housing. The reason 4 years of housing is a big deal is because BC does not have enough housing for all students, so ~half of the Junior class has to move off campus for a year. Some do study abroad; others rent local apartments.

My mail hasn’t come in yet (live in Florida) but no portal change (I don’t even know what that means)… I’m kind of bummed because it seems that that’s an indicator of whether you got accepted or not. 8-|

I’m in North Miami, Florida and all of the people at my school who applied to BC EA got their letters (and they live on Miami Beach) and I have yet to get mine. Does anyone have any ideas as to why or in the same boat? I’m freaking out because I just need to get an acceptance somewhere.

@masterchef I think that’s separate, sorry. I just got my letter, and there was another sheet that informed me I was accepted into the CSOM honors program. The housing guarantee was in the other letter.

@masterchef Please ignore my previous post. If you got into the honors program, the admission letter includes that at the first sentence. This is the same letter that includes the housing guarantee and is signed at the bottom. The other sheet just included information about the online portal. Sorry for the confusion.

Has anyone else not gotten their letter yet? Mail just came for today in Seattle and nothing. Portal didn’t change for me so I’m expecting rejection or a deferral but I just want to know!

@anniemalfarm yeah I never got my letter but my portal changed and then I just got an email that invited me to the admitted students reception in florida. Idk maybe its a state thing I’m not sure

Hi everyone…my daughter did have an invite to an accepted students reception here in NJ. Just so everyone knows, it was in her Junk mail so please check to see if you have one. We wouldn’t have looked for it if we weren’t on this forum, so thanks! Also, my daughter got 4 years housing and did not get CSOM honors program. Based on the stats of those of you admitted to honors in CSOM, I am not surprised your stats are incredible. Not sure if everyone who got an invite to a local reception had the same note in their invite but it did indicate that this was the most selective group of EA applicants in history for BC. Congrats to all of you that were accepted!

@As444555 I live in seattle and i think I got a portal change. No letter in the mail yet. Not really sure what a portal change is, but I didnt know my boston college portal account information so i did forgot my password and it got an error/help page. What is the portal change?
