Anyone from Seattle get accepted EA? Still waiting on the mail and just hoping to be deferred at this point

I’ve noticed that fellow South Floridians have received their letter and I have yet to receive mine!

No portal change, so I’m assuming a deferral/rejection but should I be concerned that my letter hasn’t come in the mail??

@collsy you should’ve got your letter by now. So just call when they get back in session. No portal change means deferral of rejection, hope for deferral!

I’m from Seattle as well and finally got my letter in the mail today; rejected. Not that I was expecting good news, given that the portal never changed. Pretty bummed that I wasn’t at least deferred, though. I do have some other great schools to which I’ve already been accepted, so I’m not too severely disappointed, but BC was definitely in my top 3.

@edcvfr If you don’t mind me asking, which schools did you apply to at GU and BC? Both schools had super competitive pools this year, but GU still has half the acceptance rate of BC. I was deferred GU SFS and accepted BC CAS Honors.

Letter finally came. Deferred in Seattle.

I was deferred and was wondering if I still have a good chance of getting admitted into the CSOM during Regular Action? Here’s a list of a few of my stats.
4.39 W GPA, 3.99 UW GPA
11/360 in my class
Have taken 8 AP classes
2050 on SAT - 720 Reading, 660 Math, 670 Writing with an 11 on the essay
770 on US History Subject Test
Leadership positions in the Key Club and Science Honors Society

Thanks!

Also, I’m projected to have these stats by the end of the semester
A- in AP Calculus AB
A- in AP Biology
A in AP Go vernment
A in Guitar IV
A in AP Literature
A in AP Psychology
Ranked 8 or 9/360 in the class

@Mfrias I don’t think it is necessary to copy the Director of Admissions, he would just probably forward it to your regional rep. But it probably doesn’t matter either way. In fact, if you haven’t already done so, I think I would NOT send it to the director, I wouldn’t want your regional rep to think you were trying to bypass him/her. I would try to figure out a way to enhance your application without overdoing it (don’t send small things that are redundant, etc.) I believe BC’s policy is that they will consider anything you send so definitely send things but make sure they are meaningful. And I would try to do some research on people that have been accepted RD that were deferred EA to see if they have any suggestions.

@edcvfr and @writeallnight Very interesting about the Georgetown acceptance and the BC deferral. My guess is that edcvfr had something stand out in his/her application that Georgetown was really looking for to contribute to their campus. Probably something very subjective. Congrats on the Georgetown acceptance that is amazing and you certainly cannot go wrong with that decision.

I am still in shock over the stats of so many of you that were deferred…hang in there and good luck. You will all end up at great schools.

@gardenia7 congrats on Case Western, that is an amazing school. Don’t think you can go wrong with that choice.

Has anyone who applied for finical aid received their package yet on the portal?

@ekbf1997 I think I read in the letter that FA packages aren’t available to see until February.

Deferred EA! In regards to improving my application for RD, can I not update any part of my Common App or Writing Supplement? It seems like the the only options are sending in updated test scores, a letter of interest, or a list of extra accomplishments since the deferral.

Since then I have heavily revamped my Common App essay, am I stuck with my first version from EA?

@muricabound once you send your common app to the school you cannot change it. That includes the essay. However you can change your common app essay to send to the other schools on your list.

I believe you can send in an additional letter of recommendation. I was deferred from one of my top schools and my guidance counselor told me to send an additional letter of recommendation.

A friend of mine worked for years in the admissions office at a top Boston college. She said it was important to follow the school’s advice for what to send and what not to send for updates. Most want only new and updated information. She said it was a big negative to be sent “more of the same” or rehashed information.

Think about it. The adcoms are reading thousands of applications. It’s a tiring process. The last thing you want to do is to turn them off to you by adding more unnecessary reading to their plate, especially when they told you not to send it in the first place.

Accepted to Boston College of Arts and Science but deferred from Michigan, Notre Dame, and Georgetown…

Does anyone have any idea what percentage of those deferred get in regular decision?

@blueeyes1997 I checked some admissions website and it said about 200+ people got in after being waitlisted

For those in the future that would find this information helpful,

Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: waiting on UCF and UF

tbh $240,000 is a lot, so I may not end up going although BC is my dream school. I was also offered 4 years of housing, so I’m guessing I wasn’t a borderline, “ehhh should we admit her?” applicant. Hope I can go. I’m buying lottery tickets like mad

Where are you from?
