Where will you be applying early action or early decision this fall? Where to? Who has started their essays for early admissions this fall? Any questions, comments, advice from past applicants?

I plan on applying early decision to Vanderbilt and early action to TCU, Gonzaga, and Rhodes College. I have also started my common app essay

I plan on applying early action to Boston College, Georgetown, Villanova, Chapel Hill, University of Virginia, and rolling admission at UT Austin.
I have checked out my supplemental essays also.

Anybody know if you have to plan interviews before you submit the application?

I might do interviews at TCU and Rhodes because they value personal interaction and it helps with scholarships. Also I’m applying to UT too!

oh and chapel hill. lol

I think either NU or WU :)

Probably Middlebury ED if my family decides we can afford not to shop around for FA offers. Best of luck, everyone!

Our D wants to apply to Pomona College ED. She’ll probably also apply EA to Georgetown, but Pomona is definitely her top choice. She is supposed to be working on her Common App essay prompt now, although I don’t actually think she’s started yet. And we looked at last year’s Pomona prompts but haven’t been able to confirm that this year’s will be the same. The Georgetown application is available so she can work on those.

@Corinthian I don’t think you can do Georgetown EA with ED at another school. You can only do Georgetown EA with other non-binding EA schools…

likely either harvard or stanford or brown early.

@corinthian, yes, @noel597 is right, Georgetown only allows you to apply to other early action schools. Boston College is the same way if you are interested

OK thanks. I appreciate the heads up since I misunderstood Georgetown’s policy. (I must not have paid attention during the info session when we visited!) She’ll stick with Pomona ED (unless something happens to change her mind in the next few months). If she doesn’t do Pomona ED, she’ll probably do Stanford REA (she’s legacy). But right now her heart is set on Pomona as her first choice, so her dad and I support the ED plan.

(But I still think she should go ahead and start on the Georgetown essays, since they’re out and Pomona’s are not.)

@corinthian Yes, I have taken a look at the Georgetown essays! In my opinion they are some of the less interesting essays in terms of college apps.

Planning on Princeton SCEA as well as EA for UVA and Rutgers.

ED Columbia SEAS + EA Rutgers

Chicago EA
WUSTL/Penn/Duke ED CAS one of those…

Yale SCEA, Michigan EA

University of Richmond :)

@hagzzz
I’m not sure you can apply ED and then EA to another private school. make sure to check this …

hagzzz’s plan is fine. UChgo has EA not SCEA. If the ED school accepts him/her, the agreement is to withdraw the UChgo application.
