***Class of 2019 Thread UCSC***

Hmm! For some reason I had March 17th in my mind , because I think that’s what they said when I submitted the regents application . where did you find out it was March 23rd??

  1. Decision: ACCEPTED
  2. sat: 2280/34 ACT
    3)uc gpa: 4.25
  3. Ukrainian School, Piano, Dance, Art, A LOT of volunteer work
  4. Econ
  5. Unique essay

I was so worried, since I was put on the WL at UCD and I was rejected from UCSD and to my surprise Purdue 0.o.

Good job to everyone who accepted

Decision: Waitlisted
GPA- 3.65W
SAT- 1580
Great ECs, getting 3 AA degrees by the time of high school graduation (something nobody has done before).
Essays were creative, unique.
History major.

Eh… kind of don’t know what to feel. I was hoping that my good ECs/essays/3 AAs could save me, but I guess not. I was hoping to be accepted. Oh well.

@stitchpony‌ that’s insane. How does one get waitlisted with 3 AAs?

I… I don’t know. Im 17 years old, getting three AA degrees and over 70 college units the day before I graduate high school. Legally, I could not apply as a transfer (being enrolled in high school takes precedent over 60+ units for transfer), so I really got screwed over on my applications. Guess my stats were too low.

And I guess to be technically correct, I wasn’t rejected… just waitlisted. Which feels like rejected. I am not going to UCSC, I only applied because I liked the campus, but they do not have my major (geography). Im just losing hope because I feel like the UCSC admissions decision foreshadows the other UC decisions I haven’t received yet. And they were even “harder” schools to get into than UCSC.

@stitchpony‌ sorry, i meant to write waitlisted. Im sure youll get into a better university. Its unbelievable that a highschooler can have 3 AAs by graduation. What am i doing with my life? Lol

Haha, aww thanks! That made me feel a little better

@finallyfree‌ A FELLOW HARD CORE CLUB MEMBER! Hello there!! Caritas for me if I recall correctly

2 Part-Time jobs (work 25+ hours a week)
< $20,000 income
10 AP classes collectively
Lots of campus involvement
Very strong essays (was reviewed by 10 readers, also read by UCR, UCSD, and UCLA representatives)

Intended Major was Psychology, 2nd choice was Sociology

Also accepted to Davis, waiting for Berkeley and Irvine

*** Just wanted to add that a lot of people here are TOO critical, especially moms that had their sons or daughters rejected from UCSC and other UC’s. Don’t ask them for advice because they made me worry that I wasn’t going to go to UC’s with my stats… And I was admitted by Davis and Santa Cruz after they told me I had no chance. I was worried that I would only make it to a state school, but this is such a relief. I was admitted to SFSU, Chico, CSUMB, Cal Poly, and Long Beach, as well.

So has anyone been able to find their major that they applied to? UCSC is the only school that makes your major a mystery

In the email? March 17th was the deadline to submit the regents app @jasminealexia15

@Psychstudent15: Congratulations on your acceptance and will be the first one to say that I am glad my chancing predictions were proven wrong. If you do not want any constructive criticism, then do not ask for a chancing on this website. No one has a magic crystal ball and can tell any student what their real chances are for any given college. CC posters are not privy to all the information that is available to admissions. Chancing is really a stupid guessing game based on a few facts posted, but for some individuals, giving them reassurance or letting them know they need to rethink their list of possible schools could be helpful. Good Luck to you and all the applicants that have been accepted/denied or waitlisted.

What scholarship was it :open_mouth:

Hello @Niting‌. I was an applicant for the Freshmen class. I am very distraught and disappointed that I did not get in however. I don’t mean to sound like an entitled person nor a sore loser, but at believe my application was very strong. I demonstrated academic success whilst managing a busy schedule full of extracurricular activities all four years. I can post more information about myself as per request. Is there any advice you have on this issue? If it is about appealing my application, have you any advice on how I may do so to be successfully admitted to your school?

I’d appreciate any advice you have, and hope that it helps, as UCSC was my top choice in the few schools I applied to.

Thank you.

@lacunar‌ hello! I understand you are current student at UCSC. congratulations! If you don’t mind helping me with the problem stated above, I’d appreciate your help! Good luck on the rest of your years at UCSC and for your brother.
