As of now, the Financial Aid Portal is down and the message says they are preparing financial aid awards for 2016-2017 incoming freshmen. The portal should be back up no later than 5pm Monday, March 28.
Geez… wish I had more nails to bite …
@DoctorWho2016 I will ask my friend the name of them. This was at least 3 years ago, as her daughter is a Senior now. I do not know if that is still where they house students or if they are now able to house them all on campus or have alternative places, but I will sure ask for you. I mentioned it because she just mentioned that to me recently when we ran into each other at the grocery store and we were talking about her daughter, my son who is going, and a friend of mine whose son is on wait list for housing and she is worried. That is when she mentioned what happened with her daughter.
@DoctorWho2016 Here is my friends response. I guess I misunderstood her statement, as it seems she was unable to be placed in housing by TAMU her freshman year and they were on their own. Not sure they do it this way anymore. Someone more familiar with the practices may chime in.
“Her freshman year, we were on our own to find housing! We didn’t find out until around April that we needed to do so, that’s when I looked at apartments and townhouses. The place where she spent her first year there is called Campus Village of College Station. They have a ton of amenities and, the bus stop is right across the street! Here’s the link to look at the place, if you sign a lease for a 4br/4.5ba, they will give you a survey to try and match you up or, if you have a group of friends they can sign together. If they don’t find 4 students to fill the 4 rooms, each student is still only responsible for their lease only! She went for the first semester with only 2 other roommates, then they placed someone midyear. http://campusvillageatcollegestation.com/”
@osmdad it’s still down for me…I’m hoping I get good news and get some sort of financial aid
Almost $20K in loans. : // I got a $2500 grant and $5500 in scholarships. (EFC of $6400) I’m terribly disappointed.
I only got loans no scholarships…I’m lucky I’m in-state but still…
Thelma2. Thank you so much for the information.
No grants, only work study and loans. why. very disappointed. Does anyone know the Cost Of Attendance for the Engineering Academy at Blinn Bryan? I’m trying to figure out how much I’ll have to pay after work study and stuff lol.
Anyone knows how we can get the work study aid. It’s in offered status for me but says that I have to involve in tutoring at a&M or something. Is it mean that I have to work on campus when I don’t have class?
I got the Texas grant and reagent grant which totals to about 17k not including loans. I’m happy with that
U guys knows that these grants ,offered money will be the same for all 4 years?
If your award letter doesn’t indicate that your offer is renewed each year (provided that you’ve met their academic requirements, i.e., gpa, etc) then you will need to re-apply for financial aid each year forward.
My A&M offer was all loans. Even If I accept them for this coming year, I still have to reapply for next year – same for any grant/scholarship that doesn’t indicate that it’s automatically renewed (I learned this from SMU. I received a great scholarship from them for the first year which makes COA slightly less than A&M, but it’s not guaranteed each year).
I don’t see any award letter except the offered awards and accepted awards (Pell grant) on Howdy website
What does this mean at the top of the application status page? It’s in a red bar.
The deadline for application to the HCC, ECC, or BRM Engineering Academies is April 1. Supporting documents should be provided by April 8th.
Pell grants are not automatically renewed each year @LoveAM. You will need to reapply every year you plan to enroll in order to be considered.
Did you check your tamu.edu email account for a letter?
How do you get your email?? Is it given after you accept the admission offer ? @niccidoe
@LoveAM Yes, you received it when you accepted your admission. Look on your AIS check list and click on “Activate your Texas A&M Student Email account”. Do you have the AIS check list? Why haven’t you looked at it if so? I’ve received all of my updated info via this account, so it’s important that you get started now!!
oh , I was waiting to see how much financial aid would be given that’s why I did not accept the admission offer, gonna do it now @niccidoe
it says that I’m currently not eligible for an email account, why is this? I only the options “return to sender”, above
