@kayleighbrown I submitted mine on 10/30/15. And go to U.C.! :-h
@dreamed I’m not sure where I will go yet. Will have to wait to see where will be more affordable! I also need to get on at least one more college visit to each again to get the feel for the campuses again
Congratulations @kayleighbrown – I follow PrezOno’s twitter feed, and just saw your tweet. You should hear about merit money within a few weeks. I’d like to offer a caution, though – sometimes having more choices doesn’t make decisions easier :-). My son was attempting to choose among 10 acceptances last year, and it was difficult.
But he’s a Bearcat now, studying BME. Has had a very good first semester, and it ends for him today with his last final for the term. I went to school there myself, and I’d have to say I’m very impressed with the campus, with CEAS and with the program.
By the way, I was born in Dayton (back when Kettering was just a “postal zone” of Dayton) and we moved to Xenia when I was 9. But I live in the northeast now.
@guyk27 thank you! I understand having more choices may make choosing more difficult but it would be nice to have some out of state options which is why I’m going to try to apply to Florida State (if I ever get the time to)! I’m definitely leaning towards UC but I’ve talked to quite a few more people going to OSU than UC and I really enjoyed the people I talked to so I don’t know where I’ll end up! I live in Beavercreek which is right next to Xenia
@kayleighbrown – good luck! I have a cousin that lives in Beavercreek – her daughter went to BHS, and graduated a year and a half ago (and goes to MiamiU now). My UC son got a very good offer from MiamiU – have you checked them out?
@guyk27 yes I have! I actually applied there because I know I will get the most scholarship money from them. I should be offered at least a half-ride from them but we’ll see. I’m not as interested in Miami though because it doesn’t have pre-pharmacy and it’s just too small of a town for me - I like being in very close proximity to a large city. Miami is just too “middle of nowhere” for my liking
Hey guys, I still haven’t heard back. I am really worried.
@KarimChammaa what program did you apply to again? A couple of my friends who applied to certain programs said they for sure wouldn’t hear back until at least January just because of the major they applied to (I think both of them applied to fields in DAAP)
@kayleighbrown Aerospace Engineering, I don’t know anyone else applying to that major, so any information is greatly appreciated.
@KarimChammaa I asked a friend and she said “I have friends in aerospace engineering at UC that are freshman this year and they didn’t hear until early February” so I think you’re fine, you’ll just have to be patient
@kayleighbrown Thank you, I guess I will have to stress a little more
Good luck to everyone, as “admits” are piling in – and don’t forget, if you tweet and include @PrezOno, he may just retweet your note!
Hi guys, I got rejected to Case Western Reserve University last week. Still waiting on U.C. and O.S.U… I did not expect to get into Case. I e-mailed the admissions to both U.C. and O.S.U. and they said I’ll have to wait until mid to late January to hear a decision (Hopefully acceptance.) My stats again:
G.P.A.: 3.75.
S.A.T. score: 1890. Top 13%.
Rank: 41/243.
Fluent in a non-English language (Arabic.)
School’s Honor Roll.
E.C’s: Peer counselor, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, tennis, and part-time job.
Essay about moving to the U.S…
Good letters of recommendation. (From counselor, chemistry, math, English teachers.)
Senior year classes: A.P. Calculus, A.P. Physics C. Mechanics, A.P. Psychology, Dual-Enrollment Engineering with the University of Cincinnati, Banned Books, Programming 1, and Study Hall.
Intended major: Aerospace Engineering.
I want to go to U.C. so bad.
Karim, I would think that the dual-enrollment program would work in your favor. Your courseload indeed sounds challenging, and they like to see things like that. Good luck!
@guyk27 Thanks for the comforting words, but I am losing hope. I am starting to think what I’d do if I get rejected from both U.C. and O.S.U… It is scary.
Karim – don’t lose hope! A year ago, my son (with good stats) didn’t hear until mid-January about an offer of admittance (in the very competitive program of biomedical engineering). Just be patient! I recently heard a story of a young man, with “average” grades (much lower than yours) who was accepted into a highly competitive program at WPI, AND he received a merit scholarship as well. Aerospace is probably a very competitive program too, but there’s no saying that you couldn’t take the first year as “general engineering” and then move into Aerospace. There are ALWAYS ways in!
@guyk27 Thank you so much, I guess I will have to wait and see what happens.
Hey I’m still waiting for UC too! It’s okay.
Hey @aoaoaok, Can you list your stats? Intended major?
I GOT ACCEPTED INTO AEROSPACE ENGINEERING FINALLY! I AM SO HAPPY! WHEN DO WE HEAR ABOUT SCHOLARSHIPS?
