“I know committee is done for sure because you can see when they’re in committee (all the adcom people in one room late at night)”… and the trash cans are filled with empty Some Crust boxes in the morning…
@otisp Did you get a quarter grades request when you applied?
@jakoboleson Don’t remember (30++++ years ago), but D did (a bit more recently).None of us seem to know its significance, so don’t fret too much about it. And to all of you, Pomona is truly an amazing college, but it’s not the only amazing college out there. Good luck to you all in the next day (or so), but know that if you are bright enough to apply to Pomona, I am sure you will have a wonderful experience no matter which one of them you end up at!
Oh man I’m terrified. Less than 24 hours everyone (hopefully)!
@Jakeyay Same!! I don’t know how I’ll be able to wait tomorrow!! Good luck to everyone and know that you’re all awesome whether or not you get accepted!!
@ravenclaws So would you say our current guess is tomorrow at 5 PM PST?
@Jakeyay Yep, that’s the current estimate. We’d know for sure if it comes out tomorrow.
International student here. Really NERVOUS!!! Pomona never admitted anyone from my school before…yet this year there is a Harvard admit!! And 2 for Duke, 2 for Cornell. Best year ever! So I’m starting to feeling a little bit of hope. Haven’t received any request of quarter grades though. Best LUCK to all of us!
Good luck everyone! I got in to Pomona through the Questbridge Match, so I am looking forward to meeting my fellow classmates tomorrow!
@ali567 : I’m your friendly neighbour (competition) from another international school where you live.
Good luck to everyone!
This might be a dumb question, but my school does semesters and not quarters, so is it possible I would be deferred and then asked to send my grades at the end of the semester? Or am I just confused as to what quarter grades means? Lol
@BandAndRobots My school also does semester grading but we receive quarter grades that do not go on our official transcripts (basically progress reports). I believe these quarter “progress reports” are what Pomona requests in some cases. Regardless, I don’t think that the grading system at your school will affect your chances of admission (or deferral or rejection, for that matter).
I am confused by the relation between request of quarter reports and admission… Is it like a Likely Letter?
It honestly doesn’t matter at this point. We’ll find out tomorrow!
@stillcindy Not equivalent to a likely letter. There is no clear relationship between requests for quarter grades and admission, just a lot of speculation. But as someone else on this thread pointed out, applicants who received requests for quarter grades last year were either accepted, differed or rejected, just like everyone else. I would try not to worry about it
Good luck to everyone!!! I’m super excited to find out (even if I don’t get in and I have to do a gazillion apps over winter break).
When you post your decision tomorrow could you also post if you were asked for mid-year/current grades? That way we can see if there’s any trends
@nostalgicwisdom Ooh that’s smart! Of course, CC only contains like a very specific group of applicants for Pomona but hopefully, we can see some trend.
So nervous for results!!
@sanvicente Thank you so much! I guess I’m just freaking out since I haven’t received any form of notification yet. SUPER NERVOUS right now.
Hello everyone! I can’t believe the day is actually here! I wish us all the best tonight, just by reading over this thread it’s easy to see that we all have put the work in and are all incredible individuals.
A bit about me: I am a Latino student (born in Mexico, moved to the U.S. As a child), I lived in New Orleans for 7 years but I currently live in the Boston area where I am lucky enough to be in one of the most competitive high schools in the U.S., I am trilingual (English, Spanish, and French), I am a recruited athlete for PP, and I am involved in many leadership programs in my school and community and have even traveled back to rural parts of Mexico to teach younger students. While I am aware that I have more “hooks” than an average applicant (and I’m incredibly thankful), my academics are my week spot. Unweighted I have a 3.3, so I would be considered a B student although I am enrolled in AP classes that include comp gov, apush, bio, and french. I also have a 31 for my ACT.
I am worried about what will happen tonight, because of this…
I hope this may provide some insight into the diversity we may be lucky enough to experience next year as I know your posts have done this for me.
Has anyone received confirmation that today is actually notification day? Or is it still speculation at this point?
