Wow thanks so much for all the help! I asked as a shot in the dark but you guys renewed my hopes.
I did get a higher scholarship at a couple of schools (full or near full cost of attendance) and Iāll definitely be contacting admissions.
@mommdc I was under the impression that once you received your scholarship letter that it was final, but I could be wrong.
Also @amandakayak I wasnāt invited for the medical/GAP program
As far as GAP - I do not believe admissions has any control over GAP, the Medical School runs it. Perhaps contact admissions and ask what you can do.
@thunderfire The 60k scholarship is allocated throughout the four year time span so 15k each year.
Did you meet these requirements? Sounds like you have to be first in your class?
Do you think it will be possible to maintain a cum 3.75 gpa in bioengineering?
Can you define the full tuition? Did they equate a dollar amount with that? OOS
@Cintimom1, Full tuition means that the full cost of tuition for the student to which the award is offered will be covered.
Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
If the student is in Arts and Sciences, this year the full tuition covered $17292 for the year instate.
Tuition is different for different schools and for instate versus OOS. Full tuition should cover the tuition billed and adjust for increases (for up to 8 semesters).
The remaining costs are mandatory fees of about $900 plus any course fees. Also room and meal plan costs.
Thank you University of Pittsburgh!! OOS full tuition scholarship received in the mail today!!
@RedYellowBlue congrats. I keep hoping weāll see something for my Sā¦
@dbjs70 Thanks! Hoping for favorable outcome for your son also!
@RedYellowBlue Did your son get the invite to apply for the Chancelor scholarship
Itās my daughter. There was nothing in the scholarship letter notification about the Chancellor scholarship. Is that a special invite?
Should be in the letter of merit-based scholarship if your D was invited.
A full-tuition scholarship for a student in OOS is a big deal. Congratulations on your D outstanding achievements in high school.
@RedYellowBlue thanks. Still nothingā¦just need to be patient, but Iām losing a little hope as weāve received the merit info from all of my other S acceptances in less time between acceptance and notification than where we are relative to when he was accepted to Pitt.
Pitt is one of his top choices, but the $ definitely plays a role in the decision process.
Thanks for the above comments. We are grateful for the merit scholarship.
@dbjs70 My daughter applied late to Pitt and was just accepted about 2-3 weeks ago. Has lots of EC and did well on her SAT.
@dbjs70 - My DD was accepted on Sept 27th and did not receive her merit letter until last weekend. There seems to be no relationship between the acceptance and the scholarship review.
