Class of 2020 RD

@QuirkyClarkie Hey! So I contacted IT and they reopened it… at least for me. So check again and if it still blocked then contact them and they will open it for you!

can any of you share the portal link?

@nmackpaddywhack How is the rigor at American? In other words are the classes extremely difficult and time consuming, or effective and worthwhile?

Wait, I never got a link to the portal? Should I email/Contact them?

@Wassman98 the portal isn’t something you have access to by permission of the school. Go to the school website, find the sign in tab on the right top corner. Then click create new student account, fill out all the information, and that is the portal we are talking about. The AU ID it asks for is found in all emails they’ve sent you. It most likely won’t work because they shut it down but maybe! Good luck!

Congrats on the acceptances so far! I’m a current freshman at AU in the Honors program. I wanted to let you all know that last year when I was accepted into Honors, I received an email before a snail mail acceptance. The email came on March 11th. You might still receive an acceptance via email so keep refreshing! I did not apply for any scholars programs so I am not sure how those programs send out acceptances.

i tried making a portal but it said it was the incorrect information but it’s not true. Does this mean that I’m rejected or the portal simply isn’t working right now?

@perksofbeingdani The portal trick no longer works, so don’t worry!

@perksofbeingdani I’m certain it doesn’t mean that.

So have people been getting decisions through the portal? I thought they only mailed decisions? Sorry just a little confused!!

They do only mail decisions. The portal trick is to try creating a current student account. However the university shut that down and so now it is no longer an indicator. It also did not guarantee an acceptance or rejection. Decisions will be mailed soon!!

@helenanca oooooh ok thank you!

It seems so strange to me that they would revert to mailing decisions via snail mail. My oldest daughter was accepted in March 2008 and they did it via email, followed by a package being mailed. If I recall, they were one of the trailblazers who did email for acceptances back then! It was a very cool animated email. It makes no sense that they would go backward.

@Melodysmom I totally agree. The nerve racking trip to the mailbox everyday.

Do you think a 30 ACT, 4.0 GPA, 5/350 class rank (top 1%), 4 yrs of 2 varsity sports, NHS, student govt, and lots of extra curricular and service/mentoring involvement will have what it takes to be accepted?

@briggs23 Those are great stats! Now comes the EFC factor (how much can you pay). The possibility of someone with lower stats getting selected because they can pay more is very likely. Makes my stomach hurt :((

@briggs23 :wink:

@HappyFace2018 Isn’t AU need blind?

@BureaCat I truly pray they are but GW claimed to be “need blind” for years…then they had to admit they were actually “need aware”.

Got into AU Global Scholars program!!! Got my letter in mail, I live in MD
