What auditions has everyone done so far?
@Isaroo my D hasn’t had any in person yet. She was accepted to LMU but that’s a video audition. This weekend she has seven scheduled for NY Unifieds…
Congrats to her! Wow. Seven auditions in one weekend sounds super intense!
BAL to all at NYC Unifieds!
@Isaroo and @marg928 we did 7 at NYC last year and had time to spare. It is doable. Many fit in a lot more. A couple were Thursday/Friday before unifieds and 5 were Sat/Sunday. And 2 of those required half day each (mainly due to wait time). Only two were at pearl studios so we travelled around.
Just trying to let people know who may have several scheduled that you can do it! BAL to all.
We did 11 at NY Unifieds! Yes it can be done! Have FUN everyone!
We did five but it could so easily have been more.
It was one of my favorite weekends of …ever.
Looking at the list of acceptances list – it seemsmlike some programs audition and make offers along the way. But others see all the kids through the season and then send out offers when they’ve seen everyone. Is this about right? Just wondering. Guess each college has its own way of doing things.
@daughtersdreams - you are absolutely correct
Thanks everyone! My D has all 7 jammed into Saturday and Sunday because as luck would have it, her football/cheer banquet is Friday night so we couldn’t schedule anything. It should be over by 10:30 and then I’m going straight into the city to the hotel. She doesn’t want to go in the morning, she just wants to get there. Plus on Saturday there’s a Women’s March so God only knows what the traffic situation will be. She has UCLA, CalArts and Chapman on Saturday and FSU, Point Park, U Minn and Cornish on Sunday. Then Wednesday Carnegie Mellon…and of course that’s her big quarterly exam week and she has to miss school for it!
Break a leg to all auditioning! I can’t believe my daughter was in your position 4 years ago and now this spring she is graduating from NYU Tisch with a Drama BFA. If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to share my experience
@jbtcat I also have a senior graduating with a BFA in Commercial Dance from Pace! It’s just crazy how fast the years went by!
@marg928 I know, so crazy! Congrats to you. I also have a senior in hs who is a competitive dancer and I really wanted her to consider the BFA in Commercial Dance from Pace because it sounds like an amazing unique program, but she decided to go a different path. How did your child like the program?
@jbtcat I would say she liked it but there have been many disappointments. They only have two shows a year, plus a show that is put on and cast by the advanced choreography students. Luckily she has been cast the past three years in the choreography show but the Pace shows she has not been cast in much. It has been very disappointing for me also. One year she was cast in in one dance in the fall show and then was only cast in the exact same dance for the spring show! She is in LA now though for Pace dance version of “study abroad” and that has been a great experience. The students have been working with Mandy Moore and today is the day they will be performing the projects they have been working on the past three weeks. So it’s ending on a positive note!
@marg928 I’m sorry to hear that there were so many disappointments but her LA experience sounds awesome! Good luck to her in all of her future endeavors.
congrats @foulandpestilent for NU! My D applied there too but regular decision. Won’t find out until March:( We would be thrilled with an acceptance there as well as any BFA program!
Has anyone auditioned and heard from CCM (Cincinnati) Acting? How quickly are they saying you will find out?
Thank you, @kaf011. To your daughter: break a leg with upcoming auditions!
Unifieds are done! My D did eight auditions between yesterday and today. UCLA, CalArts, Chapman, Florida State, Point Park, U. Minn, Cornish and a walk-in at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. It really wasn’t stressful at all and we didn’t even fight LOL!
Fair warning @marg928 (and anyone else) once the auditions are over- the really hard part begins… the WAITING! At least that’s how it was for me!
