Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)

@Janine1 True. My D received good news today from the UofM/G program director - during school, no less, but she was prepared, phone in hand. She’s over the moon, naturally. Have not heard about any others yet. She said they will not announce the full company until all acceptances come in.

@ThenSheSaidIt I also received a call today. Maybe I will see your daughter next fall?

Roosevelt is on spring break this week. I would expect something next week. Good luck.

Taking a “gap year” - or as I prefer to call it, a “personal development year” can be a good idea and won’t hurt your scholarship chances because your student can still apply as a first-time freshmen next year. The problem comes when your D or S applies to a college and enrolls in a degree program – even a local community college. However, I think they can take a couple of classes at community college just as long as they are not enrolled as a degree seeking student.

Four year colleges vary on their definition of a “transfer” student, so check with any college that your D/S hopes to apply to next year and find out what their rules are. This is usually defined on their application websites when it asks you if you are applying as a first-time freshman or a transfer.

There is a wide range of what constitutes a “transfer student”. One college says if you earned more than 12 credits you’re a transfer; Another sets the threshold at 17 credits. One college even told us, if you applied and enrolled in a college, then attended and withdrew without earning any credit, you would be considered a transfer!

All the best to your kids as they find the path that best fits them!

@Isaroo and @ThenSheSaidIt That’s such great news! Congratulations!! My D ended up getting a call too - she’s waitlisted and feeling really good about it.

Congrats @Janine1 Fabulous!

congrats @Isaroo and @ThenSheSaidIt and @Janine1 congrats at UMinn!

Thank you @daughtersdream and @Jkellynh17. My D loves Chicago! She wants Roosevelt more than any other, so I’m hoping. It always works how it is supposed to.

I hope you get good news @FionaBellemom.

My D was accepted to Pace’s Acting for FTVC! We are away at a wedding and she missed two calls from the director and then she left a message telling him we were away and he finally left the good news in a message (even though he said he doesn’t usually do that) not to leave her hanging all weekend. Very nice of him!

Yay @marg928 !!

Awe @marg928 that’s fantastic! Congratulations!

@marg928 does this mean she isn’t coming to California?

@anitapitamom lol we shall see! Planning on visiting CA in April and we should know after that.

Yay @marg928!!! Congrats to your daughter!!!

@marg928 that is great! Pace is a tradition in your family.

If she goes you have to post about her experiences. It sounds like a great program. My D only applied to BFA acting at Pace last year but while auditioning I rode the elevator with the director of the FTVC program. He seemed great.

congrats to your D @marg928 !!

Congrats @marg928! She has a great list of acceptances so far.

@marg928 - Fantastic news!! She seemed to really love that one. Is this her top choice?

BTW - My D just did the straight BFA Acting that day and no news one way or the yet.

@daughtersdreams I would say she would only consider it if she freaked out about going far from home…but we will also need to look more carefully at the curriculum. She head of the dept seems really great…still too early to know…
