Two emails from Point Park - and we are so confused!!
One says: “Thank you for auditioning for the Theatre Department at Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts. I regret to inform you that you have not been artistically admitted into the Conservatory.”
The other says: “Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that you have been artistically admitted into the Theatre Department at Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts as a Acting - B.F.A. candidate.”
She auditioned for both MT and Acting at Point Park – is it safe to assume that the “Thanks but no thanks.” is for MT?
It doesn’t say specifically.
Do you think they sent out the “Congrats” email by mistake and followed up with the blanket rejection?
D was redirected to Point Park Theater Arts: Performance and Practices. Was wondering if anyone has information on this BA degree as it is fairly new. We haven’t visited the school but know their BFA and MT is very well respected. Daughter has applied and auditioned as BFA acting to all schools on her list. Now that she’s had time to think things through she is considering a BA option. She still has five more schools to hear back from but this is her first “yes” so far. She felt really good about her Point Park audition and they did reference her to look at their BA option as well so she wasn’t as surprised learning she was accepted into that program. She auditioned as a walk in at Chicago Unifieds. @CourtneyTheater keep pursuing your dreams. There’s so many different ways to get there but you will get there!
We received the email from Roosevelt today, but when we registered and logged in under ‘registration status’ it has my D identified under the acting/BFA program, admit term Fall 2017 and I could sign up and pay today. I’m confused though because no acceptance letter? Can anyone advise?
@WorkOfHeart17 When my D auditioned at PP, we had a long conversation with a current BA performance major – she had applied for MT but was redirected. She was very happy in the program. She got to take dance and voice and had a lot more freedom to customize her program. I’m sure if you email Troy C at PP, he could put you in touch with a BA student to share their experience.
Roosevelt is great at the training, but really, really bad at the administrative stuff. I would guess that both @lakeharper and @remartin67’s S are in. We never got an actual letter, just the email. @remartin67, I would try again tomorrow and if you still can’t get through the portal email Patrick Zylka and ask him what’s up. He has untangled many small problems for me around billing and financial aid. He’s wonderful.
Thank you @WhiteRaven1 – Sure would’ve been nice if they made the MT one more specific. We read the rejection one first and assumed it was for both – then noticed the other one.
And, Congratulations on another awesome acceptance!
Congrats for everyone who got good news today! @WorkOfHeart17 My D got the same email - Not admitted for the BFA Acting Program but artistically admitted to the BA in Theatre Arts Performance and Practice Program. Does anyone know about this program. Do you have to actually audition to get into this program or do they let anyone just apply? LOL. D auditioned as walk-in at Unifieds in Chicago
@kaf011 My D auditioned at Chicago Unifieds as a walk in for their BFA. She was redirected to BA Theater Performance but you have to audition for that program or be a redirect. Per their website in FAQ :
The number of students who audition fluctuates every year. Traditionally, the theatre department has auditioned approximately 1,000 students for performance majors and admits 28 for the B.F.A. in musical theatre, 24 for the B.F.A. in acting, and 22 for the B.A. in theatre arts: performance and practices program. Theatre production (stage-management, design and technical design and management) aims to admit 20 students out of 50 applicants for this program.
Thanks @WorkOfHeart17. That makes me feel better its a redirect and 22 in that program.Wonder what opportunities for doing shows? Like if the BFA students all stay together and only do shows and the BA students have their own shows with other people at the Univ, or do they all audition for same shows? If anyone has any first hand knowledge would love to hear. Kinda sounds like USCs program.
@kaf011@WorkOfHeart17 But at USC you can apply to the BA without ever applying to the BFA. They don’t redirect to it…you have to have it listed as your second choice on the application in order to be accepted. It only requires an interview also, not an audition, so it is different. The PP program sounds like a great option…honestly USC’s BA is an academic admit from what I can tell…which is why I’m not counting on my D getting in.
@marg928@kaf011@WorkOfHeart17 My daughter auditioned on campus and in the information session they said that if they like you, but you don’t get a spot in their small BFA program, they will consider you for the BA.
@portalupdateplz right but it still had to be listed as your second choice on the application. My D’s actually wasn’t but they let her change it the day of the audition.
