Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)

@marg928 I just wanted you all to know that the BA at USC isn’t strictly an academic admit. It might be for those applying just to the BA with an interview, but given the limited number of spots for the BFA program, they will redirect those candidates they auditioned and liked to the BA. Fingers crossed for all of us! We would be thrilled with either spot, but realize USC is a long shot for even the most talented.

From what I read on Point Park’s website they can intermingle with the Mt kids and BFA acting in some classes and can try out for same performances. It looks like the BA may create they own showcase separate from MT and acting BFA. They pretty much can create their own tool box in terms of what they do outside of the acting part. We are going to consider it. A double major is very enticing but so is graduating in three years! They have a gorgeous brand new theater that is opening this year where they will be taking classes and performing. I think we’ll be doing a road trip to PPU!

@WorkOfHeart17 I would love to visit PP too but time is running out! I hope we can fit in all the visits :((

@marg928 D is waiting to hear back from 5 more schools where she auditioned BFA acting. We only have the one BA yes which in all honesty is making it easier on trying to navigate her decision. She has also applied as a business major and admitted into several good schools including Belmont for business entertainment although she didn’t audition there for theater. She wants to pursue a business entertainment degree and also stay in acting and theater. Point Park offers all of that, so I was thrilled to see that in their curriculum. Your daughter has lots of great options. Excited to see where they all will land!

@WorkOfHeart17 my D21 is a commercial dance major at Pace University and she is minoring in arts management. I insisted that she have something else to fall back on…

@CourtneyTheatre please don’t let the number of schools people are posting discourage you. Like all social media, people post the best version of themselves. I suspect there are hundreds of non posting lurkers for every one of those lucky folks posting multiple acceptances. You are good enough, and you will find the place where you belong, that will help you grow in your path. This is just one phase, and maybe you won’t get into wherever is your dream school today but that doesn’t mean you won’t have a successful career. Lots of people get into bfa programs and don’t succeed, and others succeed after ba’s, other majors, etc. Chin up - you will find your path!!

My favorite quote from my voice/acting teacher is “Comparison is the thief of joy” I live by this quote now because it is so hard in this field not to be jealous of other peoples successes, but in all honesty the only thing you can worry about is yourself and your journey. Worrying about what everyone else is doing will never leave you happy.

You are one smart person! I am going to print that out and hang it up!

@WhiteRaven1 Tell your voice/acting teacher that is wonderful!

Your teacher is smart, but you’re just as smart for taking his/her advice.

@WhiteRaven1 I’m literally in love with your post - sending a text to my daughter with this quote!

My D got accepted to acting BFA too. Very excited

Point Park

@WhiteRaven1 - Teddy Roosevelt was a smart guy- my favorite president!

@toowonderful I knew she got it from somewhere, I just wasn’t sure where!

Hey has anyone heard anything about Royal Central School? Can’t seem to find out when to expect results.

@WhiteRaven1 What a wonderful quote! Some of the most miserable people I have ever met are miserable because they are constantly comparing themselves/their successes and failures against other others. We all fall into the trap sometimes - what a great reminder!

SUNY emails are going out…

@Actor01 my D hasn’t received a response from Cal Arts BFA theater. Their website states acceptances will be sent through early April & possibly later.

@Actor01 I called a couple of weeks ago and they said acceptances would be going out that week into the next, which means they should have been done by this past Friday. My D was accepted on 3/3.
