@DramaMama603 and @daughtersdreams Ditto!
Two more down…rejected at UC Santa Barbara and waitlisted at UC Irvine. So out of 8 schools she applied to in California she only got into two, CaLARTS and LMU (waitlisted at Chapman and UCI) and still waiting on USC but not holding my breath!
Yes, of course, it was worse for my son, but we all suffered through audition/college application year 2012-2013. I was just trying to be encouraging for other families who are not getting the results they wanted.
@marg928 your daughter has so many different types of choices. Where is she leaning? Or is sh holding out on some of her waitlists. I wish you the best in the process!
@Ducky312 I truly wish I could answer that question! I know she would love to come off the waitlist at UNCSA but I don’t know what the chances of that are…ANYONE OUT THERE NOT GOING?? LOL! We are visiting LMU and CaLARTS in April so that should hopefully bring some clarity. For those two will come down to small school intense BFA vs. more traditional campus and experience. Pace has an overnight that she will attend April 21st which is a lot later than I would like. My niece is getting married on April 8th and I swear just about every school she’s been accepted to has an event that day (including an alternate overnight date at Pace)! And she is still keeping the BA at SUNY Purchase on the list for now. Of course their accepted students day is the same day as Pace’s overnight…which is the same day as LMU’s accepted students day! But I’m not flying back to CA for that anyway!
oh and by the way she auditioned at AADA this past weekend and learned that they don’t allow students to audition for outside work so that won’t work as Plan B.
@marg928 so many of these programs are so intense there really is no time to focus on persuing outside work. With the BFA programs it’s about professional training during the day and rehearsals for various shows at night. The program she picks will really dictate whats plausible to do. Again good luck!
Hey all I’ve been waitlisted at 2 of my schools, and they’re the easier schools to get into on my list. I’m waiting for 6 more schools but those have much lower acceptance rates. Do you think they’re all going to reject me?? I’m so nervous :-S
You can’t predict. Every year kids get into schools that are supposedly more selective than the ones that turn them down. Good luck.
Twiddling my thumbs over here LOL…how’s everyone holding up?
Hang in there @marg928 !!! I’m twiddling mine right along with you. My S still has to hear from 6 more schools for (MT). I’m not sure how much more I can take lol!! I’m just trying to keep busy…drink wine and drink more wine. This month is killer!
I personally am frustrated with the waiting. The biggest issue is now that daughter has been accepted to UCONN Music, the more time she waits to hear from HARTT, the more she wants to commit to UCONN. I am making her wait, just so she can have her options “on the table”, so to speak. Also, I would like to find out what the financial differences would be, before deciding.
@ANJALU thanks for telling me about your son’s Emerson experience. I really appreciate it! We have one more we are waiting on - USC. Wonder if we will hear this week?
@Felice1112 The last few weeks are always the most frustrating; wise to wait until all your options are on the table so you can evaluate. It’s tougher to back out of an acceptance if she ultimately receives another offer she wants to accept!
@Felice1112 my S is waiting on HARTT too. These last few weeks are super frustrating!
@EMVP66, USC’s packets were sent out today via priority mail so depending on where you live, expect to receive your decision in 1-3 days if it’s an acceptance. Portals are updated on Sunday.
My D just got her acceptance email from AADA. Now just two more…USC and American. Has anyone received the SDA invite in the mail this week? Nothing here so I’m not hopeful
@nifmom - thanks! We are in Canada so I’m sure it will take longer! This has been a real wild ride! I hate to say it and I hope hope hope hope for his sake that he gets in but Im really not holding my breath!
@EMVP66, best of luck. This is our second time around with USC. My older son is a senior there and we are so hopeful his brother gets in. Sitting on pins and needles right now.
@EMVP66 just so you know…USC’s acceptance comes in a white box so you’ll know right away if it’s good news or bad news…
