EA financial aid should be out within the next 10 days. Basically, our decision hinges on this one letter. Anyone else feeling the nerves or have encouraging stories to tell from years past?
Same boat. S2 feels the love and would pick it over Penn and Cornell, but understands the financial constraints. We will have two in college next year.
I was where the two of you were two years ago. EA acceptance for my D, but it depended on the FA. We were very pleasantly surprised with how generous ND was and she is a happy sophomore there today. Good luck to you!
Also, you may want to see if there is a local alum club in your area. They provided some additional aid to my D. It’s not a ton, but it definitely helps.
Thanks, @suzy100. That’s some encouraging news. I feel like this is almost worse than waiting for the acceptance! Glad your daughter is happy there!
We are waiting for our son’s FA to come in for ND as well. How do you find “local alums” for possible additional aid? Is there a website or something? Thx
@m24sweet, in our case the local alum club contacted the students who had committed to ND and who qualified for financial aid from ND. I imagine ND gives them the list. (And somewhere along the line I believe my D consented to letting them give her name to the local alum club.)
The local club then interviewed the kids and awarded some additional scholarship money. It’s all in their discretion because the funds are raised by the alum club, not ND.
I don’t know if all local clubs do this, and as I said it’s not a ton of money, but every dollar helps!
Thank you! We just found out my son was awarded full tuition plus a paid PA position in Michigan State University national cyclotron lab plus they are working on getting him more money for national merit scholarship finalist to use for housing. This is going to be tough -MSU and ND are partners in physics-my son’s major. Msu is #1 for physics grad school. We:heart:ND. We need to see the financials!
Congratulations to your son, @m24sweet! Boy, you will likely have some tough - but great - choices.
Has anyone heard anything?
@rockybalboa14 We received our FA offer through email on Friday afternoon. Email said that more details would arrive via snail mail.
Have only the EA students heard from Financial Aid? Did any RD students get a package?
My son is EA and has not heard yet. I hope it is this week.
Where did you find out about the dates?
@randassidy1 my d received an email from financial aid yesterday. She is ED deferred. They asked her to complete an additional financial aid form that was Notre Dame specific. Hoping that’s a sign that she’s accepted. Good luck to all!
@kslinky it sounds that way, congratulations! Doesn’t fair good for me with no email, but at least I know I actually did have a shot.
My son was admitted EA and we still haven’t heard anything from financial aid. Anyone else in this situation?
@kah I would contact the office. EA financial aid was supposed to be out before March 1.
We don’t have ours yet. We have been asked three times for a tax form and just submitted it for the third time.
I called today and was told his packet was in review.
