Class of 2021 Prescreen Results

D got a no from Penn State this morning and suffered a moment of disappointment and moved on. I reminded her that what is meant to be will be and she has passed plenty of prescreens for great programs and she agreed. Time to let that one go! Fingers crossed for better news from UMich and Elon.

@KelviVan - was your message from Elon for MT? I thought we weren’t going to hear anything until January 18th? Has anyone else heard from them? We are waiting to book our travel until we hear from Elon, my D is also auditioning at Coastal and Florida State on the weekend we requested. How nice that you had already crossed them off the list!

We still have not heard from Elon…should be January 18th. We are also hoping to tie that to FSU auditions. I hope they tell us early so we can finalize travel plans.

@sopranomtmom … Western Michigan prescreens?

We had gotten the message that we wouldn’t hear back until Jan. 18th, but then received a message today. Maybe they are sending out the rejections first…

@KaMaMom - That was an error. Just got mixed up because I got her audition confirmation for Western Michigan that day and somehow had it in mind. So many schools and so many auditions I’m beginning to lose track of them!!

Late start because D was in a BFA program in the fall and decided it wasn’t for her and just started this whole crazy process AGAIN a few weeks ago!

D submitted prescreens for MT & Acting to Temple and MT to Penn State on Jan. 7 (Yes, that’s the deadline). Got a yes from Temple the next day. No word from Penn State.

Wasn’t happy with the first videos she uploaded so re-shot them and then submitted MT prescreens to Shenandoah and Pace on Friday, Jan. 12 -( day before deadline) Waiting.

I just read the prescreen confirmation email from Pace and it says we’ll hear back in 5 business days. That’s a pretty quick turn around – we’ll see.

@daughtersdream, Pace has been known to give prescreen results in 24 hours. I love that they don’t make you wait long. My daughter transferred from one BFA MT program to another. If you have questions or just want to chat about the process, feel free to PM me.

We got a no on Prescreen for Elon on Friday 1/13.

@Mtmomkbh, was this for MT?

Yes on my Pace prescreen for 3 of the Acting majors! Submit on 1/6, and received my yes on 1/12.
Still haven’t submit the MT prescreen yet, but I will very soon. Also got a yes on my Coastal Carolina prescreen for Acting as well!

I’m primarily an MT guy, but monologues were the easiest things for me to do. Since my voice hasn’t developed how it should to be able to belt the high A’s and B’s, I went with the monologues first. But it turned out well :slight_smile:

Yes - Shenandoah MT. Yes - Pace BFA Acting Waiting on Pace MT - guess those are reviewed by different folks.

Having scheduling conflict with Shenandoah - may not be able to make their audition dates. :frowning:

So far my D has 2 no’s (UofM and Syracuse). She also had an in-person audition in November which she did not pass. So I convinced her to take that as the valuable feedback it was, and she decided to forego all other prescreens and concentrate on reworking and refining her audition selections (changed 3 of the 4). That meant she had to let Ithaca go… but, kudos to anyone who learned that intense dance combo for the prescreen!

So far her new selections have been working better, because she’s gotten a big in-person (OH unifieds) prescreen “yes” that I really don’t want to jinx.

But the rest of her schools are all straight audition: 1 this weekend, 8-10 (2 are still time tbd so maybe they happen, and maybe not) at Chicago unifieds, 2 later in Feb (one was the non-jinxed prescreen pass), and one straggler in April. This WILL happen - keeping hopeful and optimistic!!

BAL to everyone with auditions this weekend!!

That Ithaca dance combo was another oh no but my D is very strong dancer thank goodness. So nervous for U M and SU they are both my D top schools that we will see in Chicago. So excited that the time is finally coming for us to audition. This whole process is stressful !!!

Haha that Ithaca combo completely came out of left field for me. Wrote all prescreen requirements down in July when I finalized list. Fast forward to end of November, had finished filming all prescreens and went to upload when I saw that there was a required combo-had to learn and film again! Luckily I found it to be a fun little diddy to futz around with, enjoyed doing it a lot!

Passed all prescreens (Syracuse, penn state, Ithaca, pace, Shenandoah) here! New poster also :slight_smile:

Anyone else ever try to make sense or see patterns in prescreen results? Like are some schools consistently more difficult to get a Pass from than others? I would say that’s true. Yet I see people getting prescreen yeses from those that are more selective (keeping in mind ALL of these programs are selective) and No’s from schools I would’ve thought were less selective. There is no rhyme or reason to all this. Which is probably why it’s making me crazy!!

@daughtersdreams if you start trying to find a pattern in this stuff it will drive you insane. Things change from year to year and no one knows the formula on how to get accepted. If I did I would be typing this from the island I just purchased! :slight_smile: There are a few unicorns every year who get accepted everywhere or almost everywhere, but that is not the typical results for the other 99.8% of perspective MT’s. If you or your child happen to be that unicorn, we celebrate you. If not, ignore, ignore, ignore. Try to enjoy the time with your child over next few weeks of craziness.

Anyone hear from Elon yet today?

@owensfolks - Not heard yet
