Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

Maybe they copied the wrong list- go ahead and copy yours back @freddieggirl!

@MomofMTBoy Last year there were separate acceptance by name, acceptance by college and and wait list by college threads. Wait list weren’t included on acceptance thread. And as @bisouu pointed out it on the acceptance by name it was one post per person with list of schools using abbreviations and not including college or university unless needed.

Just a quick note on Wagner…although I realize things can change from year to year, my D auditioned and was accepted at Wagner MT last year with stats slightly below the averages @toowonderful posted, and she received a generous financial package. It is a great program so I don’t want future applicants to feel they don’t have a chance if grades and scores aren’t super strong. @LBSMOM - I hope a spot opens up for your D - her impressive academics are certainly a plus…best of luck!!

I bumped the wait list thread so people can find it.

Can someone explain to me what “bump” means??

When you comment under a thread to bring it to the top

Speaking of accepted to the program, but not to the school…

S was accepted to the ASU MT program, but it appears he won’t be accepted to ASU academically. As if that weren’t bad enough, he keeps getting emails from the MT program welcoming him to the MT major, telling him how much they hope he’ll be there next year, etc. It’s his own fault he won’t be accepted - he didn’t do the things he needed to do in order to get in (and the things that I told him to do - you can lead a horse to water, right?) - but it still stings.

Sometimes being the non-custodial parent sucks.

He was accepted several places, so I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but finances are a problem and there likely won’t be money to cover a UArts or Roosevelt tuition. It will probably be back to the drawing board here. I’m hoping that he’ll agree to do a year of community college to bolster his application, while holding down a job and saving money (something he hasn’t learned to do yet) in order to put himself in better position for next year. It will (hopefully) mean improved academics, which may result in some money and/or acceptances to places he couldn’t even think about applying this year. My big fear is that he’ll end up not following his dream, but I guess we have to let them make their own decisions sometimes, eh?

I would try calling the school and see if he can quickly get his required stuff in over the next week and get accepted.
Start with the MT people and then go to the main admissions folks ASU is a big school, they may be able to help you work it out. Email ASAP and start calling Monday morning.

Still waiting on five schools… optimism is slipping daily…

@deelight she hopes she comes off too! Yes, she has a very good academic record, this process would have been so much easier if she had planned not to do THIS process! LOL!

While looking at the accepted students’ lists of schools, I have seen many guys accepted to Emerson - are there any females out there who have been accepted?

@theotherparent - Did he get any scholarship at Roosevelt? What about loans to cover the rest?

@ginja17 I’m not sure if this is just a question out to the CC family just to see if there are girls here that were accepted, or if you are actually asking if any girls period have been admitted. I’m going to assume the latter, in which case, yes there are admitted girls (of the 28 people in the accepted students chat, there are 12 girls)

Thanks, I knew there would be girls I just haven’t seen any posted here! D Still hoping to come off a waitlist

@theotherparent The best thing you can do for your son is to let this not work out for him. He will become a better man for it. Community College is a great option and he can reaudition next year.

Feel so silly saying this. Trying to post acceptances. I copied but where do you paste? Do you hit reply? Write? The little pen? I am on my phone does that matter? Maybe I just can’t see! Lol!

@musicmama123, paste in the “reply” box at the bottom of the screen. If you’d like to see if making the text red worked, hit the “Preview” button before posting. You’ll be able to edit if it doesn’t look the way you expect.

@theotherparent - it is trickier in MT. If he takes too many credits he’d be considered a transfer which generally can be more difficult for admittance in MT programs. I agree that you should contact the programs to which he was accepted based on talent, but not academically, to get their recommendations as to how to proceed. You might see if it’s possible to defer your admittance to the MT program while he does whatever is required to gain academic admission.

Echoing @vvnstar and others, was going to suggest to @theotherparent about getting game plan from MT Dept and admissions at ASU for deferring MT admission pending academic acceptance. With quick action over summer, perhaps this can be saved, or possibly he could enter Spring semester? If S isn’t motivated to do it, however…that’s trickier…sigh.

@theotherparent Definitely reach out to MT department first, have them start conversation with admissions (maybe cc all in an email to loop them in), then suggest he work on specific classes they need to see from him. I will PM you.
