@sabersunshine @aquarose26 @BandMom55 when my S was invited to a local reception, he emailed admissions asking if that invitation simply meant he was accepted to the U of Hartford or whether he had been accepted to Harrtt as a BFA candidate. Tell admissions that you have not heard anything one way or another. Or as a parent, just call admissions (or better yet have your child call) and ask why you were emailed a reception letter. For us, the repeated invitations to a local reception meant my S was in. Best wishes to all three of you. In the past I remember reading that people called after receiving that evite and were told that the acceptance is in the mail.
@marg928 Ohh I didn’t even notice. Sorry!
@InfiniteLibrary , it’s okay! Congratulations on your acceptances! Good luck with your decision!
@InfiniteLibrary - even in the wrong forum, and knowing very little about computer engineering, my 2 cents would be that CMU is one of the best schools in the country for that…
@CMB625
Thank you!
@toowonderful It’s great to have your opinion! I asked in a few other threads and others had the same opinion!
@soozievt that seems like a great article, but it is behind a pay wall it appears.
If you copy the title of WSJ articles into the search bar and then click on the article when it comes up, sometimes you can get around the pay wall
I tried that already @jkellynh17. It may be the server I’m on. I’ll try later.
@IfYouOnlyKnew …oh sorry that happened with the article. Frustrating! I came across in within a Facebook group I’m in for college counselors. I clicked on the link there and was able to open it.
It has to do with dealing with rejection in the college admissions process, and also some advice for parent on that topic.
@soozievt No worries. I’m not against paywalls.
@stagedoormama Thanks for the heads up! I have been waiting for this!! Can’t wait to watch. I wasn’t aware it was on Netflix!
Does anyone exit this process unscathed? I followed every stitch of advice and still have regrets! Please tell me this is normal!!
Any NYU news yet?
@MTheaterMom - I don’t think it is possible to go through this without angst- it’s part of the game. Doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it - but stress is part of the opportunity cost.
@MTheaterMom, I think that even with the research we did, and even with some fairly decent results, we have tons of regrets and things we would have done differently. For us, S would have done more training-wheel type auditions early on to get some experience, he would have applied to more schools both in the reaches and mid-level range, he would have done a mock audition with a national coach, and for particular schools he would have applied earlier, auditioned earlier, gotten the flu shot, and so many more things. Pretty sure that every one feels like they messed up this process.
@MomofMTBoy NYU Admissions Twitter account says the first wave of admissions emails will begin at 3pm eastern time and they hope to have them all out by 12 am!
The documentary about Merrily We Roll Along is so well done. I saw it recently with my MT daughter when she was visiting. It has always been one of her favorite musicals.
May I just say that I am so ready to hear from NYU so that we can move into the final decision phase of this?!? S has 3 great choices but I am still feeling a need for closure. I saw the note from NYU admissions about starting at 3 pm…
Anyone have any update from NYU/Tisch yet?
