Got my acceptance to NYU!!
NYU waitlist as well. How can we wait if we don’t know our scholarship info?? No notification about waitlist until after May 1? More waiting. I was really hoping the waiting would be over. This is torture…

Finally home and we got it opened on desktop and he got accepted to Tisch
Says we considered you for everything you said you were interested in and put you where you were thought suited you best- he told them he would only accept MT multiple times in person and on app. When do they tell you so you can decide?

Congrats, @milmom2 ! @LAM2017 my D got a waitlist as well. Same questions as you. Was so looking forward to this weekend being the end of the waiting!
Did you see you can check their financial aid package? That is one expensive school- yikes!

@milmom2 is there a financial aid package? lol. I wonder if there is still some aid when you come off the waitlist? Don’t a lot of kids come off the waitlist? We know quite a few kids that gave up their spots because it was just too expensive, so it seems like there is a lot of movement. It’s impossible to know if it’s an option without the financial aid info. So, I guess we put down a deposit somewhere else and continue to wait.

That’s exactly how we were last year – it wasn’t a no & made D feel really good b/c she knew the waitlist decisions were not made lightly. There was a lot of movement on the WL last year, w/admissions anywhere from a few days after decision day to August (my D came off on April 29, but we heard of one student who came off in August….). I imagine the chances of coming off depend largely on your response to the survey you mentioned (asking if you are definitely interested & adding accolades…I don’t remember them asking for anything other than whether you are definitely interested last year, which we promptly responded “yes” to). And since your D is acting and not MT, the chances are probably even higher, since there are much fewer spaces in the MT studio than among the acting studios (my D originally only wanted MT, but after her artistic review, she changed her application to denote she was interested in any studio – she ended up in Adler). Also - not to be blunt, but don’t expect much, if any, money. NYU is not big on artistic scholarships, even for people who are admitted outright. 
@Theatrical That means she was accepted! Did she ONLY audition for MT, or did she indicate she would like to be considered for any studio? If she said MT only, then she will be in the MT (New Studio on Broadway) studio. If she left it open, she will not find out what studio she is placed in until after she accepts the offer of admission.
@LAM2017 Yes they have a link with financial aid award. It listed a scholarship and then loans. It breaks down the whole cost of attendance. That is one expensive school.
Long time lurker here. Can waitlisted people share what their letter looked like? My D was waitlisted (applied Tisch MT only) and thinks that that bc the letter isn’t from Tisch or doesn’t mention Tisch that it wasn’t from Tisch. But she only applied to Tisch so it has to be right? Ugh. This process is so stressful. Why can’t these schools be clearer?
@WTXMom Thank you for that info. My son said only MT and I was afraid they could still put him somewhere else. When do they tell you because how can you commit not knowing? I actually thought the scholarship was decent although it still leaves a big amount left .
@milmom2 - congrats on the scholarship - that’s awesome! Honestly, I’d call or email them to clarify, but I’m confident that if he told them he would only consider MT, then he got into MT (the rest of that language sounds like boilerplate). Otherwise, they would have rejected him outright (at least that’s how it was last year). Maybe that’s changed though - better to find out for sure, I guess.

There must be tons of waitlist movement for NYU once a lot of people /parents have that heart attack moment when they see the cost …I mean I’m thinking a lot of parents don’t realize how expensive it is…

That’s amazing! I hope many of you can celebrate completing this journey over the weekend. I am looking forward to seeing all the final decisions.
