Class of 2022 RD Discussion Thread

Applied to Olin to

That is an IMPRESSIVE list!

@NashvilleAg even just seeing reference of achievement would certainly make parents proud. This class has brilliant achievements and explains how competitive it is, u can do STEM, but to be a comedian, circus player its not everyone cup of tea…

The profile is for the whole class, not just the regular decision admits. The admits for the regular round are probably on the higher end.

Is Olin School necessarily much harder to get in than CAS?

So if you have a 34 ACT and a 3.93 UW, is there still hope?

@alizarin simple answer yes, don’t loose hope until you learn officially.

Can all the Olin hopefuls share their stats? I want some reassurance.
1440 SAT (740 M)
4.65 W GPA ish (Full IB so no idea how that gets scaled but apparently it’s a full point)

Novelist/Author: Writing a book about my life and teen issues
2 yr varsity soccer (started at FB/CB)
Senior Editor of Yearbook
Piano (8 yrs)
GM of NYC #2 Softball Team

Recs were really good
The essay was about my personal struggles at home: taking care of my family for years after their diseases and illnesses and how it took a toll on me

It really sucks because I didn’t have any business things back then but now I have an internship at one of NYC’s top financial planning firms as well as being a helper for MBA Odyssey which is like a national event for competing MBA schools based on strategy and business modeling (Wharton, Harvard, NYU all going to be there)

I couldn’t really show interest because we didn’t have the money to travel down there and no reps really came up here

It is an impressive list that WASHU published for 2022 applicants. If the student is not one of them in the list, that means they are out?

@cc4help no not at all, they just put a list out of the ecs/awards of people they’ve admitted that they think are unique/they really like, by no means does everybody who got admitted have them

@Kova34 WUSTL mentioned Novelist as one of admitted, hopefully its you.

@cc4help the list of activities? There’s 2000+ admittees for rd. The vast vast majority will not fit that list. As for numbers, 25% will be below 33. I mean this is for the class as a whole, but there will certainly be people who don’t fit the published profile and even extreme outliers.

Do less people apply to Olin? Or is it just way harder for Olin applicants… :-S

Thanks for the support! Thankfully we will know the result soon…Good luck to all of you

irrespective of # of Olin applicants, 8% of 15% accepted are business. That is like 1.2% business acceptance rate.

Where did you see this list? Is there a link?

I’m sorry - I can’t find why people believe today to be the decision day - was an email received? Was there notification- beyond just this possible USPS package notification?

@1sttimethrougj they released 2022 class profile in case you missed it, here it is.

https://admissions.wustl.edu/apply_site/Pages/Profile.aspx

@1sttimethrougj Empirically when the admission office releases stats for the incoming class, the decisions are coming in several hours. Also, based on past years’ observations WashU doesn’t send an email until like the last minute.

@PPofEngrDr no, the math is wrong. that’s assuming everyone applied for business…
