Chances for RD

Hi, I just wanted to know what everybody thinks. I'm applying to the Business School

3.94 GPA (unweighted) with toughest possible schedule
33 ACT- 1 test not superscored
760 Math II, 730 US History

Good amount of Extra Curriculars and volunteer service

Been to the campus and hope to have an interview.

I believe my common app essay is good, but who really knows.

Any comments would be appreciated, thanks!
And congrats to those who have already been admitted.

Well, your numbers are fine, can’t say much more than that. Assuming ECs are up to par, you have a good shot.

Does your high school have any history placing students at WashU?
I found out when I got here in August that some high schools place a lot of students at WashU. I think that is a big advantage for RD.

My school basically has around a 22% admission rate, so no not really. But somebody from my school already got admitted ED who had a little lower gpa. But then again Wash U seems to love ED applicants.

any other thoughts?

Your stats are good. But I can’t really say much because you didn’t really elaborate on your ECs.

I hear that Wash U lets in a lot of ED people but then cherry-picks from the best RD applicants. I think RD at Wash U is more of a crapshoot than anything.

@Jgli

I’m not sure that the discrepancy between ED and RD is as large as you are making it out to be; however, I do agree that washu RD is almost a crapshoot.

Well for the majority the discrepancy probably isn’t that big. But at my school admission rates are 32% acceptance RD vs. 81% acceptance ED. Big difference there.

Hmm, that’s odd. I don’t believe that was the case at my high school (although the sample size was so low, there’s no way it was anywhere close to being statistically significant). I do think that the average application doesn’t get a 50% bump by applying ED :P

My high school is laughable when you look on Naviance. 2012 - 34 applied, 13 admit. 2011 - 51 apply, 13 admit. And it goes on.

Well, I’ve never heard of naviance, but my school certainly doesn’t have this numbers. I think we average something like 1 application/admission every 2 years, haha.
