Class of 2024 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

Just wanted to say from someone who is waitlisted at multiple programs, including on the waitlist for my top program (!!!)… please please please tell the schools that you know you aren’t going to attend that you are declining their offer so that us hopeful waitlisters can get our dream offer and stress less  thank you!!!

Thank you very much @StanfordAI2019, @NYYFanNowMTdad, @BloomingGirl and @MTSthistime! We agree it’s absolutely something to be happy and proud of. @NYYFanNowMTdad, my D auditioned on Feb 22 and we live in the Northeast.

@bfayay I have to believe you’re right … if they aren’t academically accepting someone with a 1340 SAT and 95.4 GPA with high class rank, who are they taking? It had to be based on not getting into the BFA MT program.

@bfayay 4 wait lists here: Arizona, Indiana , ball state & Baldwin wallce- what about You? helps to know who is in, as you noted who & where they decline & where everyone is waiting, we have 3 yesses as well that we are talking about what to do with notifying schools but for now lots depends on those 4 waitlists

@Dance3Looks3 – agree those numbers would put her over the 50th percentile. Emerson is a great academic school, but it’s not academically ELITE. (No offense to anyone who goes there)

Out of curiosity, how did you guys receive Emerson news? Student logged into portal and no result?

The portal had a link to click, about halfway down the page that said an update to her application had been posted on March 16, 2020.

@Dance3Looks3 I guess he got skipped! LOL No link!

@Dance3Looks3 would the info have still been populated on the right — accepted or not? It says: current major: Musical Theatre ? Some schools’ portal didn’t say that until they were artistically accepted?

@Dance3Looks3 - Emerson was the first audition D did - she was EA, deferred and now waitlisted - it appears that the two are connected academics and MT - at least the way the letter reads. She also has very good grades. Personally, I thought the school was too small but she wants to continue with the wait-list - she likes the city campus and better academically than her leading choice. Does anyone have any idea how many they take on the WL? Or how it moves?

@NYYFanNowMTdad and @StanfordAI2019 - so funny thing with Webster - Lara was in somewhat weekly contact with my D after NY Unifieds - he wrote he about two weeks ago informing her she was on a very short list and he needed to know ASAP if Webster was still a top choice. She wrote him a very nice note about enjoying his correspondence and auditioning for him, and although she heard nothing but great things about the program, she had another option that was a better fit both geographically and financially. She wished him the best for his upcoming NY showcase. To which he responded Thank you for the update, It’s unclear where you stand among our other applicants at this time… ok - Kind of like I broke up with you type of thing… Today she got the rejection note - again no biggie but you would have thought he would just write her back thanking her for her honesty and withdrawing herself from consideration - I mean which one of them is still in HS?

Meanwhile - and @NYYFanNowMTdad - the other site we both are on had three boys who had Webster MT acceptances - all of which had other offers from top-top schools like CMU, CCM, Michigan, and Penn State - I find it hard to believe that Webster was their top choice - so either Lara didn’t do the proper vetting, or maybe they were not as candid. Who knows…

@DivaStageMom – “Just to be clear… YOU are not breaking up with ME. I am breaking up with YOU.” LOL

I am pretty sure that if you do not get into chosen major at Emerson then you do not get into the school

@onette The information on the right side of the portal is still as it’s always been. The banner to click for prescreen information is now gone, and in its place is a link to the admissions update.

Also – I’m sure everyone waiting on Muhlenberg got the email that decisions will be posted to the portal tomorrow at 4 p.m. and financial aid will be posted by 4:30 p.m. on the financial aid portal.

@Dance3Looks3 Our M’berg mass email said 4PM EST Wednesday 4/18—which also can’t be correct since I’m pretty sure we are on daylight saving time.

Do they release different geographies on different days?

@Dance3Looks3 well he is going to have to call tomorrow! Prescreen results link is still there! He wasn’t counting on a yes — but would like to know!

The Big List from late March 2019 and all 2019 information is in [BRACKETS]. Things may be different for 2020 - when you update with 2020 information, please remove everything in brackets and note the 2020 date in your update. Thank you!

@NYYFanNowMTdad I am waitlisted at Molloy/CAP21, which is my top! I am sad I am not on the priority waitlist but still hoping for enough movement closer to the decision date. Crossing my fingers!!!

D was accepted today for Emerson BFA Theatre & Performance - anyone know about that option? She had wanted MT was redirected.

@Looney2020 - congrats! All “Acting” freshman start as Theatre Performance majors until they finish their “Acting core.” After the first two years, they can stay on that track, or audition for the full blown BFA Acting option, which is just more intense focus on individual acting development
