Class of 2024 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

@AnxiousNovice - I updated BU - this was D’s top choice - strange because it’s acting with an MT concentration - not straight MT - but D had such a connection with McCaela Donovan the head of the department and we loved the town and vibe - and its a good school academically - that was important to her - she went into the audition joking when is the dance call and left telling me if she gets in this is where she was going.

Note for next year - apparently, D woke up and everyone had gotten rejected early in the morning and her portal hadn’t been updated - so they do the rejections first I guess - which is strange.

Anyway, she is over the moon - and we had to break it to daddy that this was the school and it comes with a big price tag $77k and we got zip - and now he couldn’t use her college fund for a new car!

@DivaStageMom do you have schools you will be releasing now?

Congratulations, @DivaStageMom !

The Big List from late March 2019 and all 2019 information is in [BRACKETS]. When you update for 2020, please take out the brackets and replace everything in the brackets with 2020 information. Thank you!

@AnxiousNovice Congrats on the Wager WL! My D was also waitlisted at Wagner and it is one of her top programs too! I agree with your sentiment, that we would love for anybody who knows that they will not be going there to let them know ASAP! Thanks!!

Just curious if anyone has heard anything from Coastal Carolinas Acting BFA? Still waiting patiently (not!)

@DivaStageMom

Glad your D got her wish.

Intended or not, your reduction of DH’s role to nothing more than a bank reflects an unfortunate stereotype. Some of us dads have supported our sons and daughters with much more than our wallets for many years.

Also, it may not have occurred to you, but $308K is a lot of money to those of us In the 99%. Especially now that the market has crashed by 1/3 and 20+% are out of work.

Your D is truly lucky to have such talent with a mother so tone deaf.

Anyone know when Boston Conservatory comes out? I know some people have been accepted over the past week.

@Stress19372919 – My D has been in touch with Boco, and all RD decisions will be out on 4/1. That’s weird that some people were called this week. I believe they were on Spring Break

@NeensMom - she is but not sure they are the ones people are looking for - the big one would be Montclair she is white, brunette, dancer who can sing - I feel like they went by type and this probably will move somebody off the waitlist because I know they took a very small class this year since they have a big class from last year.

@DivaStageMom Congrats on BU. It sounds like an unexpected gem. I never knew they had the MT concentration but bummer on the price tag.

@AnxiousNovice - BU is a top three acting program - just recently they added an MT concentration but they have had success - like the lead in Book of Mormons. It checked a lot of boxes both location and academically so we went - like I said - kind of like let’s check it out - and she really vibed with the head of the program who told her that acting is the foundation for everything and she would do herself a great service in this business being an actor first. Which is great advice for your daughter as she seems to be a very good actress based on her acceptances.

@DivaStageMom Yes that is what I meant by unexpected. i thought they only offered Acting and at the time we were applying my D only wanted to apply to Acting programs. Glad you stumbled on the MT concentration.

@AnxiousNovice - her coach brought this to our attention because she wanted a city campus and an academic program. It was the perfect situation for her because it was what she wanted and the program - has everything, it just puts acting first - you apply to MT in your sophomore year and you minor in dance. The program has a TON of notable alums - both actors and people in the industry - its a top program.

I guess if you weren’t looking for that mix of urban campus and academics it wasn’t on your radar - although there were a lot of MT’s at the audition - you could actually pick them out in their solid skater dresses etc… Straight acting tends to dress a lot more casual - at least that is what I gathered. This was our only acting audition and we spoke to other MT’s and it was there only one as well -so it was out there…

Definitely an option to consider for the class of 2025 - but with one caveat - don’t apply if you don’t have the grades - they should really cut people off from auditioning who don’t meet their academic standards and as far as I know they don’t (stop people from auditioning) - but similar to Syracuse, the list goes to admissions and they make the final call. If you don’t have a 31 ACT don’t submit your ACT - it’s not required for theater applicants and they even suggested that if you did submit your ACT and it’s not a 31 to call admissions and rescind it. They use an unweighted GPA so it doesn’t pay to take a boatload of AP’s that you didn’t get A’s in - although I am sure in straight admissions they value rigor - this process seemed to not. I saw other posts of people whose AP’s screwed them up for BU theater. I think they wanted a 3.6 or 3.7 unweighted GPA.

(Lurker here for S23 as for him he is undecided in path yet).

I have no input on specific programs but I happen to know an area pretty well.

Viterbo- 3 colleges in the town so it does have the college town feel. Could feel small and rural depending on where you live. UW-L is a very popular choice for students from my kids high school but its getting more competitive to get in there because its become so popular. I think its a beautiful area in regards to outdoorsy things to see and do close by. I know quite a few who went to college in that area and honestly each person I know has nothing but positives to say about their time spent in the LaCrosse area at college.

Syracuse~~has anyone heard a no or WL? I have heard that some people have heard yes for MT, but not much else We are waiting for acting…any info anecdotal or otherwise?

@CBSQandA not my kid but I do know someone who notified of academic acceptance but not not accepted into MT or any kind of performance program. I believe that was on Friday that they were notified.

@cammiebp As (at least some) notifications have come out for PT and MT at Coastal- you may want to reach out and inquire about Acting. They usually release all answers around the same time, though this year with everything going on- who knows.

Anyone have some inside scoop on when Miami is releasing decisions?
