This is probably posted somewhere else, but I couldn't locate it through my search.
On the common application, I put my rank as 3. After semester grades, my rank went to 2. Should I contact the colleges or not worry? Since they require the mid-year report will they see that my rank is now 2?
It's a change from being in the top 6% to top 4%.

What colleges have you applied to?

Rochester, wake, vandy, washu

I am not familiar with the admissions criteria at those schools but hopefully someone can advise you if you need to update based on those schools. Good luck. :)

If your transcipt has your class rank on it, then you shouldn’t since colleges will see your new class rank when your mid year reports are sent in.

absolutely let the schools know; FWIW, some schools report top 5% to college board/USNews, so they would want to increase the # of students in that band…

I don’t think it would really affect your chances of being admitted (especially since you live in Iowa, which will give you a geographic advantage anyway), but especially for Wash U, it might bump you from “waitlisted” to “admitted” if they think you might actually attend…

Well, if you’ve already sent in your Mid-year report, then they already know.

I don’t see the advantage of calling to tell them information they already have. They’re supposed to look over the Mid-year reports to see if anything changes either direction.

I’m going to talk to my counselor on Monday and find out if the class rank change was on my mid-year report.
