Currently, I am ranked 3rd in my class. However, this is because of one weighted class that I didn't take last year. I'm going to be taking it this year, and assuming that I do well in it, I should be able to pull my rank up to 1st.

However, would I still put 3rd on the common app? Or should I just put top 10%, as my ranking will not be solidified until presumably after colleges make their decisions concerning me.

Should I have my counselor mention this somewhere in her recommendation or on my transcript or something?

Your updated rank is sent with the Midyear report, which should reflect your grades in regards to this course. Are you sure that taking one class would pull you up 2 slots? I woudln’t worry so much about rank at this point. Just kick a** in that class.

Good luck! :)

Click on the yellow question mark for some guidance on this question: “You should report your current Class Rank and GPA, even if they might change later in the school year…”

+1 to what WinstonWolfe said.

Colleges know that your rank and GPA is subject to changing, generally to an upward trend, as opposed to a downward trend.

How competitive is your school & how big is your graduating class size?

Thanks. Sorry-I totally forgot to check the yellow question mark.

My school is very competitive, considering it only has 111 students.
