Class Rank Question? UNC Admissions.

Hello All!

I am a rising senior and I have just started looking over the UNC application. Oh, I think its also important to mention that I am an in-state student.

Recently, I had been doing some research on UNC and was reviewing the Class Profile of 2011 (found here: Discover academic opportunities that distinguish Carolina). Something came up that worried me though 0_0. I noticed that 80% of UNCCH students were in the top 10% of their class. I go to a very competitive NC school where my 3.66 UW GPA and my 4.45 W GPA, put me around the 25th percentile. All my other scores match up with UNCCH requirements (33 ACT, 780 Math II SAT, 720 Physics SAT, four fives on ap tests, volunteering) but I'm worried that my class rank might exclude me from getting accepted.

Anyway, my question is, is there anyone out there who had a low class rank and got accepted into UNCCH and also what do you think the average class ranks of your (in-state) friends who got accepted to Chapel Hill? Thanks!

We were told that the class rank is not one of the deciding factors to get into UNC - they look at your transcripts and use that information. The admissions officers said that the class rank was not evenly matched from one school to the other so they prefer to use concrete information and that is what they get from your transcripts.
