Class Waitlist Help

A few of the classes I need are full.

1) Is there any kind of waitlist I can sign up on? Can you please explain the process.

2) If there's not a waitlist, how can I get in if a class opens up? Do I just need to check the online schedule of classes each day and pray for an opening?

Thanks.

UCF doesn’t really do the waitlist thing.

You just have to play the “drop/add” game. Monitoring the website constantly to see if a slot in one of your classes opens up.

I’d have a few backup classes just in case you don’t get an opening.

There’s good news though, you probably will get your classes if you stick to it. I was in a similar position last January as a spring semester transfer. I couldn’t even register until after my orientation, which was 3 days before class!! I still got most of the classes I needed by constantly monitoring the computer.

Also, you will likely be able to add classes on the Friday of the first week of class. During the first week of the semester you have until midnight Thursday to drop a class, but midnight Friday to add a class. That means that students will often drop by Thursday if they are registered for a class they really don’t want, freeing up slots for you to add.

Also, with such a large state school there are so many students that every class usually experiences add/drops. Just be diligent in your efforts.

If it’s a Math or Science class, people are always constantly adding/dropping during the add/drop week, so be on the lookout for that.

If the class is one that is required for your major, you can go talk to the professor and ask if they will allow you into their class.
