I’m taking four AP’s my senior year, and I feel like that’s the worst time to worry about AP with all the college applications to be filled and all the ACT and SAT tests I need to retake.
I think the scariest is probably AP Literature and Composition, since I’m not a big reader haha. A close second is AP World History, but I like history so I won’t regret it.
Honors English 12. I’m not so much afraid of it because of the rigor; I have handled AP English under terrible circumstances. It’s just the social aspect. I don’t know if it may be like this at your school, but in 9th grade, the bubble of smart kids is taking Honors and gradually, that bubble moves into AP. So all of the kids in that bubble are taking AP Lit this year. English is not my strong suit or favorite subject in the world, so I dropped AP for honors. I’m just worried because I haven’t seen these kids, the kids that are not in this AP bubble, for years. I haven’t had class with them for 3 years. So now I have to get used to these other people.
AP Lit. Writing essays stress me out like no other, not history tests, not math finals. I do well in English, but it’s probably the class that requires the most time and effort for me.
AP Comp Gov ! I know it’s not the hardest AP but the teacher at my school makes it an intense and challenging course. She has a great success rate but it became the norm this past year to see students taking the class crying in the halls before and after tests.
French 4. The teacher is impossibly strict and I’m skipping French 3, so it’ll be a struggle.
AP English 3. Why am I taking this again? Was it really just because I like to “challenge myself”? This seems like more and more of a bad idea the closer to school we get…
AP Biology - I took AP Chemistry last year and got a B first semester…
also, AP Calc BC, but then again, that depends on how hard the teacher actually is (compared to what I’ve heard from upperclassmen).
Definitely dreading AP English Lit. Last year in AP Lang the only thing that made it hard for me to get an A in the class was the reading assignments… I hate reading lol. Luckily though my school runs on a block schedule and I don’t have Lit until second semester, so my grades are less important by then
A.P. Chemistry
My teacher announced today on the first day of school that he was glad to say, “Well, for the past two years running, we’ve been down to one student breakdown per year…well, per semester…yeah, the tests are hard. They’re, uh, quite a bit harder than anything else at this school. It’ll be fun…for some of you…”
Then later, “I won’t take it personally if you choose to drop. It’s not about being ‘soft’ vs. ‘tough’, This class just doesn’t work for everyone.”
Chem Honors and USH1AP. My teachers for both are notoriously difficult (but fair) and over 40% of their students drop within the first month. APCHEM and APUSH is almost impossible, and if you can survive all 4, you’re almost guaranteed to be top 5. Praying I survive
I’m very nervous and scared for AP English Literature. The teacher I have is extremely strict and the course itself is very rigorous. I also don’t enjoy analyzing books and such, but I do love reading them! Hopefully it will be a good year…
