Happy Halloween Lehigh!
Due to campus power outages, Lehigh is canceling classes tomorrow.
Many dorms are without power. Including son in M&M.
Thank goodness for a wonderful roommate. Off to New Jersey son goes!
Lehigh University News

My son crashed with friends at Broadhead last night and now they are hearing that power may be out until Wed! Apparently trees are down all over the place and there are 200 people working to restore power and remove trees. He does research in a lab and the back up generator failed and they lost all of there cells, antibodies, everything. Starting from scratch whenever the power is restored! Thankfully everyone is safe!

Oh no!
I agree, glad everyone is safe except for the cells, antibodies and hard work.
So sorry to hear.
Thank you for the inside scoop mumof2boyz.
Hopefully, everything will be back to normal for the upcoming Family Weekend.
We fly in this Thursday.
Thank goodness we dodge this storm.
Class of 2015- earthquake, Hurricane Irene and now October snow storm. What’s next?

^SOCALhome- add, no Class Rally this year!

^ thank God, i got a refuge at Brodhead. I’m having so much of fun here…
Such panic situations should come every once in a while
:D

Classes are cancelled for tomorrow, 11/1.

Allentown, PA was featured on The Weather Channel this am with Jim Cantore.
You know you have made news when Mr. C is in town.

I’ve abandoned ship and headed home. Power’s on here in NJ but we don’t have phone or internet service (I’m at Health Quest using their wifi…). This is fun but kind of annoying at the same time, I don’t know what they’ll do with 4 o’ clock week(s). If they push them back the there will be scheduled exams during LehighLaff week…

Good question about the 4 O’clocks. Also curious if Parents Weekend events will take place as I am driving out Friday morning. Hopefully power will be restored today or tomorrow and things can be back to normal by Wednesday.

So far my son tells me everyone has been very cooperative and the students that have power have been most welcoming and generous with their space.

I have an uncle who works for National Grid, my power company at home… this is not the first time I’ve seen damage that extensive, so I knew it would be a few days and just drove home to NY. Absolutely 0 snow on the ground here in upstate, it’s odd to think Lehigh already has inches on the ground but home doesn’t. Power, heat, hot water, I’m living the life here, lemme tell ya.

I have a 4 o’clock on Thursday. Word has it that PPL (power co. at Lehigh) is saying Lehigh’s power won’t be fully restored until Thursday. I am hoping that the test will go on and/or will simply be rescheduled for next week. As of right now I don’t have an exam on Lehigh-Lafayette week, and I’d prefer to keep it that way.

I’m really hoping that Parent’s weekend will still happen though!

Wow, classes cancelled for Wed, 11/2/11
We’re hoping everything is back on-line for the fast approaching Family Weekend.

Unconfirmed - students are hearing that power will be restored today and that classes will start Thursday giving everyone time to move back in, travel back from home, warm up the dorms etc…

Here is an article where PPL confirms that power is expected to be restored today:

Thank you for sharing the info mumof2boyz!

They are going back to school today! They can go back after 4, and classes resume tomorrow.

I have to say I think Lehigh handled this beautifully! Even without power, they managed to post to social networking sites to keep everyone informed as to what was happening. They also apparently have enough redundancy built into their website that it never went down. Also, I appreciate their making decisions a day ahead so that I could plan my already full life while getting my son back to campus.

I agree it was handled well, particularly since the power company really could not give them very much information. Thank you so much to the students who opened their rooms, couches, floors, common areas etc… to those who did not want to settle in a large evacuation hall! So very kind, welcoming and generous!

Glad things will be back to normal for Family Weekend events!
