Do you think taking Bio Sci 93 AND Chem 1A for the first quarter as well as two other writing courses is a good idea? Or should I spread Bio and Chem courses out?

I know I should save this for my SPOP date, but I'm trying to plan out what classes I should take. Also, is the maximum number of units possible to take per quarter 20? Even though the average student takes 16?

I’m also planning my classes out. From what I have been told, Bio and Chem during the same quarter is a bit hefty.

Yes, the max is 20 units. However you can request to take more if you fill out some paperwork. Honestly, 20+ units your first quarter in college is WAY too much. Unless you think you can handle it, I would keep your first quarter simple so you get an idea how college works.

how do you know how many units each class is? kinda stupid question i know …

Not a stupid question. You can find out the number of units by checking out the UCI catalog.

Thank you frenchfries11, I think I’m going to try out the whole bio/chem in one quarter thing, and have somewhat easier classes for the leftover units. I know it might be hard, especially for my first quarter as a college student, but it’ll pay off, right?

Yupp, that is what I plan on doing too.
