I'm an EE Major, and probably looking for the straight electrical engineering option.

My original plan was to do
Math 31A
Com Sci 31
English Composition 3

For some reason EE majors in our orientation got screwed for english composition 3 so no one in our orientation group got it. After referring to a friend who goes to UCLA as an EE major, he suggested that i take CS 31 in the winter quarter because that's when people whose majors that don't have an emphasis in computer science take it thus its less competitive. So my new plan is probably going to be

Math 31A
Chem 20A
Some GE (Any suggestions would be great).

And for Winter Quarter
I would TRY for

Math 31B
Physics 1A
English 3
Comp Sci 31

I mean, i guess what im asking is: Is this the way to go? Is this too rigorous? Is there something I'm overlooking?

That looks reasonable. Most EE students have schedules that look something like that for the first two quarters.

Definitely keep a lookout for Eng Comp 3. They’ll open more spots for later orientations, and you’re still free to sign up. For help picking GEs, search for the “Easy GE” thread.

thats a pretty decent lookin schedule for an EE.

knock off that chem 20a really fast and get jammin on ur math and physics asap…

ur fall quarter is pretty fair (what most science ppl, engineer or not, take). should help you ease right in.

winter might be tough (?) but doable.

you’re an engineer so get used to the 4 classes/quarter

btw engineering biomed option is pretty funny. they all seem to be excited about it at first but end up feeling very bitter after takin some of hte extra chem classes (one of my partners in chem 30al is an EE)

i would actually suggest cs 31 your fall quarter, since rohr is the only one teaching it in winter and in general everyone liked smallberg better (i took it with rohr and didn’t like his lectures at all)
