Clemson Class of 2025 Admissions

EFC unfortunately has little to nothing to do with your COA, especially as an OOS student. It is simply a number created in FAFSA to determine federal grant/student loan eligibility. What aid is listed in iroar (Pell, student loan, merit scholarship, etc)

Thank you!

I applied 16 days ago with all of my materials complete and ready for a review. Does anyone think I’ll hear back before May 1st?

Applied for what?

finance with a backup in computer science

They’re still accepting applications?

I had to laugh a bit; not at you, just having flashbacks to the 1980s. DH sent in a last minute app (for finance) to Clemson on a whim after stopping by campus on his way back home from one of his last recruiting trips. He was genuinely questioning his other offers. His family stopped in for lunch and a quick look, and the rest is history. Here we are 30+ years later. It was so late in the app season; they didn’t even have a dorm room for him (there were few dorms back then).
@TMDuo28 Yes, they accept apps through 4/15. I’m guessing (emphasis guessing) they’ll hear back by 5/1, assuming they had all supporting docs in by 4/15. @antpicone1 If you sent in test scores, it will probably make it a quicker/easier process. Just out of curiosity, what made you decide to send an app?

i wasnt too happy with all the schools i had applied to and i was talking to my neighbor who had gone 30 years ago and said he loved it so i can imagine its even better now. also the area and campus is beautiful and to put it bluntly theres more conservatives in the area than were i live in pennsylvania which is a plus for me

Congratulations to all who have been accepted. My daughter accepted her offer and will be enrolling at Clemson this fall. Her final decision came down between UF, FSU, and Clemson. She got the best feeling of family atmosphere and friendliness at Clemson. It also had the best opportunity for her career choice with graphic communications. I fell in love with the school at our first visit and was more convinced at our second visit. I’m glad my daughter felt the same way. We also drove to Greenville for dinner (50 minutes away) and had a great time. Best wishes to everyone else and go tigers!

Congratulations and welcome! She’s a girl after my own heart. Graphic comm was one of my degrees; I went on to run, then own a marketing/printing company and was an adjunct faculty member (graphic comm/business at another school). Sold my company a while ago, after 25 years in the business. I miss the “rush,” but not the deadlines, lol. I used to say I had ink running through my veins.

In my opinion this is just a money grab by Clemson. We’ve been told that students were randomly selected, and that the program gets students to take classes in the summer to free up space in those classes for the fall. Clemson told us this directly. We’ve received varying answers depending on which clemson office we ask. And, with the exception of one person, they have been the worst college regarding communication out of the five we are considering. They are using this to filter out those students who can’t afford the extra cost, those that can and refuse to be exploited, and those that don’t want to go to clemson “bad enough”. They should be ashamed.

This is a program similar to other flagship’s early start programs like Penn State’s LEAP program. They do it to accept more students. They have way more applicants than seats. Other schools, like UF, place students into online classes freshman year to free up space. You can choose to do it, appeal (some have succeeded in past years), or ask for a Spring enrollment.

Considering the merit scholarships and aid given to us by other schools, public and private (including Furman and Wofford), clemson is more expensive by thousands. Not seeing where they are worth it.

UCONN had a similar program at a satellite campus.

FSU has a similar summer program “ This is directly from the school——-“ The Summer Offer is an offer of admission to Florida State University. Students who wish to attend FSU must first complete the online response form which allows us to change your admission to reflect that you have been admitted to the Summer term (and we can send you a nice acceptance packet!)”

That value assessment would be major/career-dependent, not just monetary cost. There are many majors offered by Clemson that are not available at Furman or Wofford. In our case, Clemson is $10k-$15k less than either of those 2 over the 4 year period, despite our daughter receiving some of the highest merit awards given by Furman or Wofford. But we are focusing her analysis on which offers the best program for what she hopes to study/become.

It is important to note that students chose, on their application, whether they were willing to be considered for the summer program. Applicants answer this question on the Common App:
If we are not able to offer fall admission after your application review, would you like to be considered for enrollment beginning in the summer in Tigertown Summer Bound? Yes/No

I understand lower merit can be disappointing. The NPC was quite accurate, even if it wasn’t as much as we’d hoped. D20 would’ve received $8k/year more from Clemson, if she’d graduated just a year earlier. Thankfully, they took all of her AP and DE credits, so D20 will technically be a junior next year. She turned down better merit offers for fit. It sounds like you made a decision before joining CC. Good luck to your student in their future endeavors; I hope they find the perfect fit for them!

Stats?

Not sure if you were asking me or brown2, but DD had 4.0 uw/35ACT/7-8 AP and DEs/graduated top 2-3% large public; admitted to Honors College and Eureka Research. Hope this helps
