Their process literally makes no sense. I applied on Dec 28 and got accepted on Jan 7. And believe me there are many more qualified applicants on this forum. Given that I’m an in-state student, it still just does not make sense.
I applied back in October and I still have not heard of anything. However, I am a out-of-state student.
That’s interesting but congrats that’s awesome!! I could be wrong but I think Clemson accepts more in state than out of state? I applied in August and haven’t heard anything. However I am out of state and they have an influx of applications so it’s understandable. Just hoping for the best!
I also applied in August 1st and still haven’t heard anything (OOS also). I have an older brother who is a junior and he found out in November when he was accepted. This waiting is killing me.
same i applied back in the beginning of october
They are being strict right now, but they’re trying everything they can to keep the in-person classes going. If the kids miss their weekly covid test, they get locked out too until they get tested/cleared. Luckily, it’s working; positivity rates are currently at 1.2%. D20 has 5 in-person and 1 hybrid. I can only imagine how frustrating all of this must be as the parent of a possible incoming student; I’m sure it’s easier to appreciate Clemson’s efforts as a parent with a student on campus. Thankfully, she’s having a fairly typical freshman experience, to spite covid. Hopefully, it bodes well for the class of '25. @atx888 If you do plan on going to campus, post on the Clemson parent FB page a week or so in advance and ask if anyone has a student who would be willing to give a personal tour. There are several kids who will give unofficial, socially distanced tours. If you state your intended major, you may find someone in that particular major.
Edited to note the 7 day % positive average was updated last night to .9%.
Thank you!!!
For those that have been accepted with merit aid, have any of you NOT applied to the honors program? Curious if there’s a connnection.
Nice to see a familiar moniker here – I think there are quite a few of us parents with seniors looking at the Clemson, USC, and UTK combo. My S21 is definitely in that group! Also has Texas A&M, VCU, UVA, and Vanderbilt in the mix too (UVA and Vandy admission decisions still pending). Good luck to your D21!
I didn’t apply to the honors program
My D did not apply to the honors program.
My son did not apply to the honors program
based on past years when do you think big drops of decisions could happen? I applied November 4th so I am eager to hear back.
My daughter has not applied to the honors program and she has received her acceptance.
Unfortunately, we ran into the same experience as others visiting Clemson (no in-person tours, felt very locked down, etc). Made it feel unwelcoming to me (like we shouldn’t even be there) and difficult for D to “picture herself there” compared to other schools that are doing tours and feel very welcoming and more open. It definitely negatively impacted feelings about Clemson which pre-visit had been clear #1. Still a contender, but will have to see if it can climb back into the #1 spot.
On UTK tour they even walked us through several buildings, including library, so easier to get a good sense of the place. Interestingly, it doesn’t appear that UTK’s Covid stats are significantly different than Clemson.
I think for some of us there’s also a “does it make sense” factor that at times seems to be missing. For example, I personally struggle with reconciling you need an appointment to be in the library with your mask on, but not to eat in a dining hall/student union food court with mask off (speaking in general terms here, not Clemson specific).
We are in the Clemson, USC and UTK combo too.
My D applied in Nov, got a surprise acceptance with scholarship notification Dec 10th as well. Said a FA package would come in Feb but we still have not received. They encouraged her to apply to honors and Lyceum which she did but we have not heard anything since. I don’t k ow if that would be ties to the FA and that is why there is a hold up? We are OOS.
Would you mind posting her stats and major?
I applied to the honors program.
I am thinking they are having one big release day. I have not heard of any acceptances recently
