I just looked at the Facebook memories from last year. One of my twins received his envelope Feb 1, the other twin Feb 3. That was a rough couple of days, BTW!!! Hopefully soon for our current seniors! (Yes, I had three sons in 20 months!)
My twins (girls) haven’t received their envelopes yet, but it sounds like it could be soon! (except for the slower than normal USPS system).
Given small number of early admission decisions were were communicated via the portal this year, are we expecting them to notify everyone else via snail mail this year? That seems like such a waste of paper and postage (not to mention, extends the anxious waiting period even longer for those of us not in the southeast!)
My twins already got accepted, I was just referring to waiting for the mailed packages. I assumed everyone would be notified via email first, and then snail mail after that.
My Daughter just checked her portal and today it has a university ID, her major listed , starting at Clemson date. There is a nice Tigertown bound next to her name. However application status says awaiting decision. Am i reading into this too much or is she in but just waiting for official letter?
@dadotte Sorry to disappoint, but I wouldn’t get too excited. My D’s portal has had those items since back in December, and she is still awaiting a decision.
Yup. Worlds most annoying portal. The “welcome to Clemson” and “tiger bound” part is a killer.
Thank you
I really hope Clemson releases decisions soon. I’m hoping my girl gets an admission so I can start planning our visit to campus! I think I’m more excited to visit than she is! Ha! (This is my last kid going through the process so I’m enjoying it as much as I can as it’ll be the last time we do this.)
We were there this past weekend and just know that it’s very hard to get a feel for things without tours happening. And they are stricter than any school we’ve been to in regards to covid. We couldn’t even find a building we could get in to for a restroom! A sign outside the library said students can only get into the library with pre-scheduled appointments!
These are the only things I can find on Clemson’s website about a decision update. First-Year Application Process | Clemson University, SC
Either on February 15th OR by February 15th:
|August 1|Application opens|
|December 1|Applications must be submitted by this date for priority notification|
|December 31|Deadline for test scores and transcripts for priority consideration for academic scholarships|
|February 15|Notification date for students who meet priority deadline|*
|May 1|Application deadline|"
Also…
" Decision Types
Incoming first-year students who apply by December 1 and submit all their supporting materials by December 31 will receive an admission decision by mid-February " (same as what portal says).
The wait is killing me!!
Wishing everyone waiting the best of luck!
Hi guys,
based on past years when do you think big drops of decisions could happen? I applied November 4th so I am eager to hear back.
But they have done a fantastic job keeping Covid numbers low. My freshmen twins, while frustrated with some of the restrictions, have navigated as best as possible during a pandemic. Hopefully next year will look different!
We went on a 6 school tour back in October. No school was open for guided tours but in most places, my daughter and I could get permission to enter and look around inside a lot of the buildings. Clemson was BY FAR, the strictest with keeping us out of buildings, including paid security guards in the libraries.
Super depressing. We’ll still go, get what we can out of it. Thank you so much!
Just a suggestion, but when we visited last year, we couldn’t do it on the day of an official tour. My D’s HS counselor put us in touch with student who had recently graduated from our school, and she showed us around campus, gave us a 1:1 tour. It was actually our best campus tour, hands down. She’s since graduated, but maybe see if you can find a current student to take an hour to show you around?
I agree with this. Also, per my previous comment about being at Clemson, we spent a lot of time speaking with students who were just “hanging out”. Everyone was very friendly and gave lots of great information. My daughter was probably very embarrassed the first time I did it, but she quickly got used to it…lol.
I got accepted into Clemson on December 10th and applied early November. I got notified by email that I had a status update and signed onto the portal and my decision letter was there alongside a message saying I had gotten scholarships and would hear about the amount in February of 2021. I also received a package in the mail a couple of days after I heard. Not sure if it means anything but I’m OOS
You should check out the Facebook group “Clemson University Parents”. Several posts recently from parents of high school seniors on visiting and what people recommended. Lots of good info.
