My DD is an incoming freshman, will be in Holmes. I heard in the past they had freshman move-in all in one day, on Saturday, but this year it is Friday and Saturday…at least for Holmes. Any advice on move-in date selection? What activities or sessions are their for the students (or parents) over the weekend?
Do you know if the student selects his move in date or is he assigned?
Students select their arrival time and date on a Sign-up Genius website. There isn’t any advantage to Friday or Saturday that I’m aware of as the process will look the same both days. There is nothing for parents on move-in weekend except the manual labor 
. The freshman have lots going on for a couple days before classes start. There may be some things starting up that Saturday night.
