Clemson Nursing Chances

Hey everyone! I applied to Clemson for nursing in late August/early September. I have not heard back yet. I was wondering what my chances of getting into nursing are? I’m an out of state student, scored a 30 on the ACT, a 1360 on the SAT (700 math, 660 reading), and have a 4.35 weighted GPA. My mother is an alumni and my sister is a current student. I have taken multiple APs and sciences classes geared towards nursing, like anatomy and physiology. I’m a three sport athlete and am in numerous clubs.

I know the nursing program at Clemson is one of the most selective, especially for out of state students, but please let me know my chances! Thank you!

Update: I was accepted with an OOS scholarship. Good luck to all and go tigers!

Congratulation, my daughter’s major is Nursing and will be attending Clemson as well but through Bridge Program.

@kb50help I thought you couldn’t do the bridge with a Nursing major? Did she selecta different major with the hopes to transfer into Nursing next year or do I have my information incorrect?

They didn’t say anything about changing major. My daughter’s transcription was sent in late. She wanted to add her 1st-semester grades. She has 3 AP classes, Biology, Stats and US history. She has all A’s. I’m not sure either…Are you doing Bridge?

@kb50help , make sure you contact the nursing dept directly to find out what your d needs to do to transition to Nursjng . Nursing is one of the closed majors and she may have to compete with a certain GPA to get in . They also allow Clemson students to put in a change of major request at a certain point which I believe is pretty competitive so she may be competing with them for a spot . D is a sophomore Nursjng student and has mentioned this to me before .

Wow, I had no idea. I will def look into it. Where NJ do you live? I used to live in Edison and my family lives in Old Tappan, Ft Lee and Palisades Park

so rude of me…Thank you

@kb50help my daughter was admitted to Clemson for her second major choice (they make you choose a second major when applying). She will probably not attend Clemson because of how extremely difficult it is to change your major to nursing. It is a closed major and very few spots open up with a lot of competition to get in. That’s a lot of stress with just a small chance of success that she will probably not take.

@kb50help , We are in South Jersey, close to Philly…and yes I’ve heard the same info that charlestonmom is saying above…very few spots with a lot of students competing . Nursing has become so competitive everywhere …I am a nurse myself and it was nothing like this years ago .

South Jersey…Lived in Pennsauken. After reading what charlestonmom wrote, I checked the paperwork regarding her major, TCTC has her for Biology Science. When I compared the two majors required curriculum, they are the same. I’m not too worried. Thank you

^^That’s good ! Best wishes to your daughter !
