Clemson wait list

Anyone know chances of getting into clemson if wait listed? Experience or data from prior years? Thanks.

Someone recently posted… apparently there were something like 1700 waitlist offers last year. 3 accurately got off the list and admitted.

@chicagomom64 Looks like it depends on the year. If you look at Common data Set for 2016-2017 there were 1794 offered waitlist 659 accepted a spot on wait list and only 3 were admitted off the wait list.

However in 2015-2016 2249 offered wait list 790 accepted a spot on wait list and 783 admitted off wait list.

In 2014-2015 2418 offered wait list, 895 accepted and 10 were admitted off the wait list.

Wow, 3 accepted one year, 783 and then 10. We are scheduled to head to Clemson this Saturday with a school visit on Monday. Duke is in town Sunday night. We are still planning on going but concerned our daughter will fall in love.

DD is waitlisted. She will likely accept the offer, but we assume it really is just a polite denial.

Evidently, a significant number of waitlisted students made it in this current year from what I can tell. Hoping this trend continues for this coming fall! It definitely was a huge disappointment for my daughter as it’s her #1 and we pretty figured she would make it in given her tests scores, gpa, etc.

Has anyone spoken with Admissions to find out how many are on the waitlist … and any further information about this situation? I’m sure they won’t even speculate about the odds of being admitted. Thanks.

We visited Monday, February 19th and asked approximately how many were on the waitlist and if there was a ranking. They did not share.

He encouraged us to consider accepting and at the same time encouraged us to have an alternative plan. His advice was blind as he didn’t know anything about us. We simply asked the admissions gentleman that presented at the welcome center.

Good luck all!

My daughter called Admissions yesterday and asked how many were on the list – they didn’t say. She also asked if they were in a ranked order, they denied that. She then asked if there was any possibility they could hear a decision prior to May 1st and admissions said NO.

My son accepted his waitlist offer. I was expecting him to get the weekly emails that his brother did, in which the school wants verified interest to remain on the waitlist. He has gotten no follow up. Anyone else?

We have not gotten any of those emails either - of course I am assuming my son accepted his waitlist offer lol!

My daughter was also waitlisted. She is from NJ with a 1300 SAT and 4.72 GPA. She was bummed. But she did get into UFlorida, UMary and Elon so not the end of the world. Odds not good to get off the Clemson waitlist.

@HappyNJOOS what major did your daughter apply to?

Exercise Science

Ooops, I meant Health Science

Daughter was admitted into the nursing program but she will decline as scholarship was not enough compared to what she received at other schools.

brokemom, was she admitted off of waitlist?

@brokemomofdd if so, how did she find out she got in? was it a phone call or a letter?

She was admitted back in November but will decline her acceptance. She received a big orange packet in the mail that said you are tiger bound.
