Yeah, that’s all we do before our anxiety turns into a heartbreak.
I can’t generalize this feeling for all hs students but it feels like we’ve all worked so hard for those acceptances.
More than feeling hurt about receiving all rejections until now, it pains to see my best friend who has given his 4 years of high school his best and received nearly perfect scores in everything and national recognitions in his ecs, break down before his exams because of the distressing decisions.
Getting down to do the hard things doesn’t feel worth it knowing it doesn’t get better.

Where are we going with all this?

There are a limited number of spots for international students. Admissions is highly competitive and worse for those who need aid. I’m sorry it’s been so difficult.

We generally advise students who are applying to competitive schools to apply to colleges closer to home too. It’s important to have academic and financial safeties. Did you and your friend do that?

Hang in there @AnArcticMonkey. Your, and your best friend’s, hard work is not negated by being denied admission. You are still that person who worked hard and was successful and will continue to be successful. Each school is accepting a set number of students. The number of applications being received continues to hit record numbers. Please do not take the process personal even though I know it’s hard not to.

It seems like you and likely your friend are internationals requiring aid. As noted above, those opportunities are quite limited. Not to sound rude, but US colleges are not obliged to give subsidized educations to domestic students no less international students. I hope you both applied wisely and have either included some schools that guarantee a sizeable about of aid to internationals meeting their criteria (ex. UAlabama) and/or have explored opportunities in your home country.

@austinmshauri yeah oh boy, @happy1 I did not apply for aid. And my friend is an American citizen. Lol this really sucks. Looking forward to hear from a few more places by the end of the month to see if we get in elsewhere

Apologies, I gleaned information incorrectly from other posts…
Wishing you good luck as the process moves forward.
